The 2022 Toyota Veloz has finally landed in the Philippines, and it's now a completely separate model line on its own.

Toyota Motor Philippines has officially launched the all-new Veloz. Now a separate model line from the Avanza, the 2022 Toyota Veloz comes with a host of aesthetic and technology upgrades that make this entry-level MPV (marketed as a subcompact SUV) one of the most technologically advanced in its class.

Two variants will be sold: G and V. The good news is, whichever variant you choose, both come with the exact same exterior features and design upgrades. Compared to the Avanza, the 2022 Toyota Veloz has a sportier face that’s characterized by a sportier front and rear bumper, a mesh hexagonal grille, sharper LED headlights with sweeping LED turn signals, a full-width LED light bar, and bigger 17-inch wheels. There are also LED puddle lamps when the vehicle is unlocked, giving you easy vehicle access in the dark.

Likewise, the interior of the 2022 Toyota Veloz is significantly upgraded from the Avanza, and both the G and V variants are similarly-equipped. Some of these upgrades include leather and fabric combination seats, leatherette door panels, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster that’s similar to what you’d find in the Raize, automatic climate control, an electronic parking brake, and ambient LED lighting. The Veloz also inherits the Avanza’s long sofa mode, which is a feature that enables all of its seats to fold flat and thus create a “lounging” area inside the vehicle.

What separates the two variants is the infotainment system. The G uses an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system while the V uses a larger 9-inch unit. Regardless of the screen size, both come with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and even wireless charging.

Like the Avanza, the 2022 Toyota Veloz will be powered by the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 106 hp and 137 Nm of torque. This drives the front wheels via a CVT.

Toyota is also upping up its safety game with the Veloz as the V variant comes with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced driver-assistance tech. This bundles automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. This comes on top of blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert.

The 2022 Toyota Veloz will retail at the following prices:

  • G CVT: P1,185,000
  • V CVT: P1,225,000
