Mercedes-Benz Philippines has given the GLB compact crossover SUV more features for this year with the addition of a new variant. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 Progressive, as it is called, comes with added luxuries and a P200,000 additional price compared to the AMG Line variant that will still be sold for P3,790,000.
So, what exactly do you get? On the outside, the Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 Progressive is highlighted by its satin silver faux skid plates, 10-spoke 19-inch wheels, and satin silver grille. Some of the AMG Line’s features are carried over as well, such as the LED headlights with LED daytime running lights. Compared to the AMG Line’s sporty appeal, this variant takes on a more contemporary approach to its exterior design.
And then as for its interior, the GLB 200 Progressive comes with Artico synthetic leather interior, but the amount of technology has been upgraded for this variant. The two 10.25-inch screens for the MBUX infotainment system are finally offered in this version of the GLB as opposed to the AMG Line’s two 7-inch screens. In addition, there’s finally a powered tailgate, which as a missing feature in the AMG Line variant.
Under the hood of the Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 Progressive is the same 1.3-liter turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine that powers the AMG Line variant, which means it produces 163 hp and 250 Nm of torque. This drives the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Safety is still a key priority for the GLB 200 Progressive, as this variant comes with automatic emergency braking as standard, along with Active Park Assist self-parking and a reverse camera. This comes on top of the usual suite of airbags and electronic stability control.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 Progressive is now on sale across all of the brand’s dealers for P3,990,000, and we’re happy to report that amidst a shortage of new cars, stocks of this new Benz are going to be readily available.
