The current Toyota Vios has been with us for quite a while now. Actually, it’s nearly a decade old at this point, as the Vios that Toyota currently sells only received a major facelift in 2018 and is not a new vehicle from the ground up. That’s all set to change with the 2023 Toyota Vios, because this will be the first time that the country’s best-selling vehicle will undergo a full model change.
Already teased by Toyota Motor Thailand, the all-new Vios (which is called the Yaris Ativ in their country) is set to make its global debut on August 9. The all-new model is a radical departure in terms of design, as this teaser showcases a subcompact sedan that comes with a fastback silhouette instead of a traditional three-box design. Some of the exterior highlights that we can see in the upcoming Vios are a set of full LED lighting, including sweeping LED turn signals at the rear, along with a more aggressive front face.
Inside, the 2023 Toyota Vios is also a radical departure as the dashboard seems to have been blessed with a generous serving of soft-touch materials. The model being teased also comes with a red leather interior, which is very unusual in the subcompact sedan segment. The seats even feature quilted stitching, plus there’s also an 8-inch infotainment system that’s shared with the Raize and Veloz.
The all-new Vios will most likely migrate to the new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) that underpins the Raize and Veloz, though we expect its powertrain to be carried over unchanged. Therefore, expect a 1.5-liter and a 1.3-liter to be fitted under the hood of the new Vios.
This is all the information that we currently know regarding the upcoming 2023 Toyota Vios, with more to be revealed as the launch date draws nearer.
