Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) previewed the upcoming GR86 at its Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival over a week ago. At the time, TMP only released a few details regarding its successor to the first-generation 86, but now, they’ve confirmed that pre-orders for the 2023 Toyota GR86 will commence on August 6.
But before you head to your nearest Toyota dealer, do note that not all dealers will be selling the Japanese automaker’s latest sports car. For that, you have to head to your nearest GR Performance dealership, which you can see via the list below.

As a recap, the 2023 Toyota GR86 is the successor to the 86. The sportscar, which is a joint development with Subaru’s BRZ, was now developed through Toyota Gazoo Racing. Under the hood of the GR86 is a new 2.4-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that’s found in the BRZ, which means it’s now significantly more powerful than the previous model at 237 hp and 250 Nm of torque. This is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, with the former probably the only version to come with a limited-slip differential.
Apart from the obvious design differences from the BRZ, the Toyota GR86 has a more playful tuning to its suspension. Therefore, expect the GR86 to be easier to drift compared to the grippier nature of the BRZ.
