Months after its regional debut in Singapore, the 2023 Subaru Forester GT Edition has finally arrived in the Philippines. The newest Forester GT Edition carries on the sporty character of the pre-facelift model, but with an added dose of safety that puts it in the lead when it comes to semi-autonomous driving tech.
Since it’s now based on the facelifted Forester that debuted last year, it now gets the brand’s EyeSight 4.0 suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). With EyeSight 4.0, it not only comes with the usual automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and full-speed adaptive cruise control, but it also now comes with lane centering and even an evasive steering assist–the latter of which can steer the vehicle away from a collision. Thanks to the wide-angle cameras, the system knows if it’s safe to steer the vehicle away from a potential accident. This suite of ADAS comes on top of blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, a 360-degree camera system, and the usual suite of airbags and stability control.
As for aesthetics, the 2023 Subaru Forester GT Edition still features a bodykit that’s been designed by former Subaru designer Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi and Japanese engineering company Giken Co. The new bodykit now complements the facelifted model’s new front and rear bumpers, and in this case, is now entirely painted with a satin silver finish. Complementing these aesthetic upgrades is a set of 18-inch GT Edition wheels.
Moving inside, the Forester GT Edition comes with diamond-quilted leather seats with embossed GT Edition logos, while interior features are the same as from the standard Forester, which means you get a sunroof, smart entry with push-button start, power-adjustable front seats, and the DriverFocus driver attention monitoring feature. Not only does it monitor the driver’s face from potential distractions or signs of drowsiness, but it can also link the vehicle’s settings to the driver’s face.
Mechanically, the 2023 Subaru Forester GT Edition is unchanged, as it still uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that produces 156 hp and 196 Nm of torque, which in typical Subie fashion, drives all four wheels via a CVT.
The 2023 Subaru Forester GT Edition can be yours for P2,298,000, which is P130,000 more than the standard Forester 2.0i-S.2023 Subaru Forester GT Edition Debuts In PH With P2.298M Price Tag2023 Subaru Forester GT Edition Debuts In PH With P2.298M Price Tag
