2023 BMW 3 Series And M3 Touring Now In PH, Priced From P3.890M

The 2023 BMW 3 Series Touring and the first-ever M3 Touring have finally made their way into the Philippine market.

The last time that BMW sold a 3 Series wagon (or Touring in BMW’s marketing jargon) was with the E46 generation from more than 20 years ago. Fast forward to 2023, and the German luxury automaker kept its promise from last December. Making its return in the Philippines is the 2023 BMW 3 Series Touring, which will be sold in three variants–including the M3 Competition Touring.

318i Touring

First is the P3,890,000 318i, which gets a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that produces 156 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. As with every 3 Series in history, this is rear-wheel drive (RWD) and sprints from 0-100 kph in 8.8 seconds with its eight-speed automatic from ZF.

As for features, whereas the 318i sedan that was launched is designated as the Sport with its M Sport exterior, this wagon version bears the standard exterior look of the 3 Series. LED headlights and LED taillights, along with a powered liftgate, roof rails, and 18-inch wheels come as standard.

Interior features, on the other hand, include the new iDrive 8 infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, perforated Sensatec synthetic leather upholstery, aluminum trims, and ambient LED lighting, just to name a few.

M340i xDrive

For those who want more performance out of their 3 Series Touring but without spending P10,490,000 for the M3 Competition Touring, you can get the M340i xDrive for P5,890,000. This model now uses the same B58 3.0-liter turbo straight-six as the Toyota GR Supra, M240i, and Z4 M40i, and it produces 374 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. With its rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) and ZF eight-speed auto, this can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 4.6 seconds.

To signal the M340i’s sporty intent, this model benefits from the M Sport exterior as standard, along with 19-inch wheels and M Sport brakes. Apart from the added aesthetics and performance, this also comes with an adaptive suspension that varies the ride quality or body control depending on the drive mode. It also benefits from a variable ratio steering that creates a balance between stability or low-speed drivability.

Inside, the M340i xDrive has similar features to the 318i, but it gets upgraded with various BMW M bits that are seen in the seat belts and steering. You also get sportier seats, three-zone climate control, and a Harman Kardon surround sound system.

M3 Competition Touring

For the first time ever, a wagon version of the BMW M3 has been made, and it’s based on the more hardcore M3 Competition. This means that it gets the more powerful S58 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six that produces 503 hp and 650 Nm of torque. As with every new M car, this engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic, and in the case of the M3 Touring, this provides power to an M xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) system. This enables the M3 Touring Competition to sprint from 0-100 kph in just 3.6 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 280 kph.

The 2023 BMW M3 Touring is pretty much what you expect from the wagon version of the M3 sedan. That bucktooth grille is still there, but almost all is forgiven because the M3 in wagon form just looks so good. The usual M bits are there, such as the wider fenders, quad exhausts, M aerodynamic mirrors, and a set of staggered wheels with those at the front measuring 19 inches and the rear ones at 20 inches.

Inside, the M3 Competition Touring comes with similar features from the M340i xDrive, but with M Sports seats, M seat belts, Merino leather upholstery, aluminum interior trimmings, and an electronic gear shifter as opposed to the toggle switch in the standard 3 Series Touring. This control logic also lets you adjust the speed of the gear changes.

The 2023 BMW M3 Competition Touring retails for P10,490,000, and just like the other 3 Series Touring models, these cars are now available for you to view at your nearest BMW dealership.
