Long absent in the local BMW Philippines lineup is the more practical body style of the 4 Series called the Gran Coupe (or the four-door coupe in BMW’s marketing speak). Making its triumphant return this year is the new 2024 BMW 4 Series GranCoupe, which will be sold in the Philippines in 420i M Sport form.
In terms of design, the 2024 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is basically a 4 Series coupe with the added functionality of rear doors and a powered liftgate as opposed to a trunk. Other than that, it’s typical BMW 4 Series, which means you still get that large grille flanked by slim LED headlights and a sporty exterior courtesy of the M Sport Package. This includes gloss black exterior trims, a sportier front and rear bumper design, 19-inch wheels, and M Sport Suspension, just to name a few.
Inside, however, and the changes for the 2024 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe are much more dramatic. Rather than utilizing the latest generation iDrive 8, this model still uses the outgoing iDrive 7. This move at least preserves all of the physical controls of the interior, but an imminent facelift will probably ditch this altogether in favor of the layout found in iDrive 8. Other features fitted to the 420i M Sport is an M Leather steering wheel, “Tacora Red” synthetic leather interior, aluminum trims, and highly-adjustable front sports seats.
Since we’re getting the 420i M Sport, this means that our local spec 4 Series Gran Coupe comes with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that produces 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque, while 0-100 kph happens in 7.9 seconds. This is sent to the rear wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic.
If you want a more stylish alternative to a 3 Series or a more practical 4 Series, depending on your perspective, then the 2024 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe can be yours for P4,890,000.
