Toyota Motor Philippines didn’t just unveil the new Yaris Cross today, because it also used Bonifacio High Street as a venue to silently update the Corolla Altis as well. For the 2024 model year, the Corolla Altis GR-S Hybrid is receiving quite a few new features to keep this electrified sedan competitive amid newer competition.
The updates begin with the exterior, which comes in the form of new 17-inch alloy wheels. The wheel design now skews on the more modern and sophisticated vibe as opposed to the sporty two-tone ones in the previous model. This is not a mid-cycle facelift, however. This is just part of a routine equipment upgrade that Toyota does to its vehicles.
Most of the changes are noticeable when it comes to the interior. For the GR-S Hybrid, you now get a 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, a new 9-inch infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, red door trims, wireless charging, and a new frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror. There’s also an upgrade when it comes to safety because the Corolla Altis GR-S Hybrid now comes with a 360-degree camera system.
Apart from these upgrades, the chassis and engine remain unchanged. The Corolla Altis continues to be powered by either a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine that produces 121 hp and 153 Nm of torque. The hybrid system likewise remains unchanged, consisting of a 1.8-liter gas engine and an electric motor that provides a total system output of 121 hp (total torque is unknown). All transmission choices for the Corolla Altis are a CVT.
We don’t know yet if the other variants of the Corolla Altis will receive updates as well for 2024, nor are any price changes, if any. Currently, the Corolla Altis GR-S Hybrid sells for P1,665,000, but we are also unsure if this will remain unchanged. As for the other variants, these are their prices:
- 1.6 E: P1,054,000
- 1.6 G: P1,130,000
- 1.6 GR-S: P1,302,000
