Initially making its global debut last December, the 2024 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition has made its way into the Philippines. Though the Mazda 6 isn’t the brand’s first midsize sedan, with models such as the 626 already roaming Philippine roads in the early days, the Mazda 6 name was only introduced in 2002. To celebrate 20 years of Mazda’s midsize car, 40 units of the 20th Anniversary Edition–all of which are in wagon form, will be sold in the Philippines.
The 2024 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition is based on the current generation Mazda 6, which originally made its debut in 2012 and then receiving a facelift in the Philippine market for the 2016 and 2019 model years. It is also the first model to wear the brand’s newest Artisan Red paint, both globally and in a Philippine context. Rhodium White, which will succeed Snowflake White Pearl, is also one of the choices for the special edition Mazda 6, and this paint debuted in the CX-60 luxury SUV.
Apart from the paint, the Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition sets itself apart with its commemorative 20th Anniversary badges placed on the front fenders, while the grille and 19-inch wheels are painted in high-gloss silver for a more luxurious appearance.
Inside, the 2024 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition comes with a luxurious interior to match the premium exterior. Tan-colored Leganu synthetic suede and Nappa leather upholstery wrap the seats and door panels, while stitching can be seen on the dash, while the headrests feature the 20th Anniversary logo.
The 2024 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition uses the revised 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline engine that received cylinder deactivation for the first time this year. Under light throttle applications, the engine switches to a two-cylinder mode for fuel efficiency. Despite this, the engine still produces 190 hp and 252 Nm of torque. Apart from the revised engine, the steering has also been calibrated to provide a better road feel during medium to high speeds.
As for any advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) on offer, the i-Activsense suite for the Mazda 6 remains unchanged, which means it still gets lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive matrix LED headlights, blind spot warning, and rear cross traffic alert.
The 2024 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition will be sold for P2,200,000. As mentioned, it is only available in two colors: Artisan Red and Rhodium White. Only 20 units of each color will be sold in the Philippines to maintain the vehicle’s exclusivity.
