The Haval Jolion Hybrid recently received the highest five-star ratings from Australia and New Zealand’s “independent voice on vehicle safety” following a battery of tests to confirm safety performance, and high voltage battery integrity for the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). Launched in April 2023, the Haval Jolion HEV is one of the newest intelligent and “green” compact crossovers in the Philippines, and it has gained a five-star safety rating for its hybrid variant from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
ANCAP’s assessment, including destructive crash testing (frontal offset and oblique pole tests), noted how effective the Jolion’s standard innovative safety features, which includes all-scenario autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane support system with lane keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW) and emergency lane keeping (ELK), and an advanced speed assistance system (SAS). The report also took note of the sub-compact crossover’s center, dual frontal, side chest-protecting, and side head-protecting (curtain) airbags.
According to Tonette Lee, Marketing and Sales Director for GWM Philippines, this is a testament to GWM’s global strategy, and leading-edge technology, that are its advantages as the global brand enters the Philippine market.
“To achieve a five-star ANCAP rating, production vehicles must perform at a high level across the four key safety categories, and are required to meet minimum score thresholds for each star rating level. For example, a vehicle cannot achieve a five-star ANCAP safety rating without providing a good level of protection to child occupants. ANCAP’s recent five-star safety rating for the Jolion HEV highlights its excellent safety qualities, and with this, every model in the HAVAL lineup for the Philippines is now ANCAP five-star.
“With the Haval Jolion HEV, Philippine customers get the full benefit of an innovative full hybrid crossover at an affordable price, at 5-star safety” she said.
In addition to the five-star safety rating, the Haval Jolion Hybrid is packed with power and fuel economy as the company’s premier subcompact crossover. Its 1.5-liter hybrid variant provides both high efficiency and high performance with a combined output of 186 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque and a claimed low fuel consumption of 5 l/100 km (20 km/l).
The Haval Jolion is available in four variants: the HEV DHT Supreme, DCT Supreme, DCT Max, and DCT Plus.
