AC Motors, the new distributor of BYD in the Philippines, used the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia as a venue to preview the upcoming Atto 3. The 2024 BYD Atto 3 is an electric vehicle (EV) with plenty of range that we think will be perfect for Filipinos who want to dive into the world of EV ownership. It will go on sale sometime in November according to AC Motors, and depending on the price tag, this electric crossover SUV could prove to be a huge success.
For starters, the design of the 2024 BYD Atto 3 features a modern and very sleek design that’s characterized by smooth surfaces and clean lines. 18-inch wheels are fitted as standard, along with sleek LED headlights and full-width LED taillights, and as with move EVs, there’s a lack of any grille up front. And then on the inside, the new Atto 3 comes with the brand’s signature rotating 12.8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. There are also fully digital gauges as well as standard leather upholstery.
The model that’s going to be offered in the Philippines is the variant with the long-range 60.48-kWh BYD Blade lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery that’s extremely safe and durable especially compared to traditional lithium nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery. This battery is mated to a front-mounted electric motor that produces 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque, enough for a 0-100 kph time of 7.3 seconds and a long WLTP-rated range of 420 km.
The Philippine-market 2024 Atto 3 will also be fitted with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, and rear cross traffic alert, just to name a few.
Pricing will be revealed once the BYD Atto 3 has officially been launched for the Philippine market this coming November, and we expect it to be somewhere around the P2 million mark. With plenty of range out of its LFP battery, as well as a price tag that surprisingly puts it at parity with an equivalent Honda CR-V or Subaru Forester, the Atto 3 has the potential to be a hit among Filipinos who want to own their first EV.
