After making its debut in pre-production concept form at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, the 2024 Suzuki Swift has finally been unveiled in full production spec. Unsurprisingly, it looks pretty much like the pre-production concept that previewed it, so here’s a full rundown on what to expect for the next-generation Swift.
The redesigned Swift follows a more evolutionary approach, still looking very similar to the two generations that preceded it. The front end is characterized by a somewhat unflattering fish-like octagonal grille, sleek LED headlights with J-shaped LED daytime running lights, and sculpted bumpers to match its quirkier character.
There’s an available black contrasting roof option, while the side profile is simpler than the front end with a straightforward character line and a more rounded roofline compared to the past two generations of the Swift. At the back, there’s a new set of LED taillights with C-shaped LED graphics and a rear bumper with a faux diffuser effect.
Dimensionally, the new Swift is identical to the outgoing model, measuring 3,860 mm long, 1,695 mm wide, and 1,500 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. Though this hasn’t been confirmed, the similar dimensions could be an indicator that the new Swift rides on the same Heartect platform as the previous model, albeit with structural revisions.
Where Suzuki placed more effort in redesigning the Swift is in the interior. There’s a new, more sculpted dash with multiple visual layers, as well as the option for a black-and-white interior scheme in the Japanese market. The centerpiece of the interior is a new 9-inch infotainment that comes with a new operating system from Suzuki, along with two analog gauges with a color multi-information display.
In Japan, the 2024 Suzuki Swift comes with two engine choices, though the technical details of each engine choice haven’t been revealed yet. The main highlight of these engines is a newly developed 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine that comes with ISG mild-hybrid assistance. The Japanese automaker also didn’t reveal its voltage, whether it’s a 12-volt, 24-volt, or a 48-volt system, but a similar system in the newly-launched Ertiga uses a 12-volt ISG. Unfortunately, those who want a manual will be disappointed as there won’t be any for this generation of the Swift.
Lastly, the 2024 Suzuki Swift also comes with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) for the first time. Called the Suzuki Safety Support, this system uses a monocular camera, a millimeter wave radar, and an ultrasonic sensor that enables features such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control, just to name a few.
The new Swift is already available for reservation in Japan, and it will also be exported to other markets. For the Philippines, the next-generation Swift will only arrive once production in Thailand has commenced, which is where the current Swift originates.
