The 2024 Kia Seltos has officially made its debut in the Philippines after being revealed globally late last year. Building upon the previous Seltos is an SUV with more style, more power, and more technology in order to strongly appeal to the Filipino buyer.
First, let’s talk about the looks. The 2024 Kia Seltos gets revised exterior styling that’s enhanced by a new grille, new headlights which are in LEDs for the EX, and range-topping SX, along with new 17-inch wheels. Opting for the EX and SX adds more style to the exterior with features such as silver trimmings on the grille, while exclusive to the range-topping SX are embellishments such as chrome door handles and LED taillights.
The interior of the 2024 Kia Seltos receives the most aesthetic and tech upgrades. The dash has been redesigned to accommodate the two displays–a segment-type digital instrument cluster with an 8-inch infotainment for the LX and EX, while the SX gets the dual 10.25-inch screen for the gauges and main infotainment. All variants also get push-button start, while only the EX and SX get smart entry. Lastly, most of the remaining good stuff is reserved for the SX, and this includes the panoramic sunroof, LED interior lamps, wireless charging, leather seats, and dual-zone climate control.
Two engines are available for the new Seltos, with the LX and EX getting a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder that produces 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a CVT, and if the figures sound familiar, that’s because it’s what also powers the Creta and Stargazer. For the first time ever, the Seltos is being offered with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the SX, and this produces 140 horsepower and 242 Nm of torque. This engine is then mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and all variants are front-wheel drive (FWD) only.
Kia Philippines has also added a good amount of advanced safety features in the new Seltos, though all of these are exclusive to the SX. These include Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist. These come on top of the usual reverse camera, rear parking sensors, hill start assist, and electronic stability control, which are available on all variants.
With great styling, plenty of features, and a new, turbocharged engine for the range-topping SX, we think that the 2024 Kia Seltos has the potential to be the next small SUV sensation in the Philippines. What’s left to find out is the price, and they’re actually pretty good.
