The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, now in its fifth generation, has rapidly arrived in the Philippines just months after its global debut. This also effectively makes it an ASEAN debut as well, as we are the first country in the region to receive the new Santa Fe. Radically redesigned from the ground up, the new Santa Fe is so different from the outgoing model, that it almost deserves to have a new nameplate altogether.
Immediately noticeable is the very boxy shape, eschewing the curvaceous look that its predecessors used to have. The new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe that’s on display is around 90 percent representative of what the Philippine spec model will be, which means you can expect stuff such as those nice 21-inch wheels, full LED lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, just to name a few.
Some of the design highlights of the new Santa Fe are the H-shaped lighting elements, which pay homage to the “H” of the Hyundai logo, while the C-pillars contain a hidden grab handle that is used to access the roof rack or to easily enter the third row. Lastly, the reason why the H-shaped LED taillights are mounted really low is to create the biggest possible aperture to make cargo access easier or to make the tailgate a nice place to hang out.
Moving inside the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, you’ll likewise see an interior that’s radically different. More of that H-shaped motif is seen across the dash–especially with the shape of the LED ambient lights, along with a generous serving of plush and upmarket materials. Two 12.3-inch screens are now housed in a single glass bezel, and it is now powered by the latest version of Hyundai’s operating system. Functionality is also a high priority in the interior of the Santa Fe as it consists of two wireless charging pads, and plenty of storage places–one of which includes a center console box that can be opened from the front or the rear.
Two engine choices will be powering the new Santa Fe–both of which are turbo gasoline engines. Yes, that means the discontinuation of the diesel, and what you’ll be getting now is a 2.5-liter turbo with 277 hp and 420 Nm of torque, or a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline hybrid powertrain that produces 227 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque.
The Santa Fe will also be fully loaded with the latest Hyundai SmartSense suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. Though the full specifications have not yet been confirmed, the company says you can expect features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, just to name a few.
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe will arrive in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2024. Hyundai Motor Philippines will reveal more information, including pricing, as the launch date of the new Santa Fe draws nearer.
