2024 Nissan Terra Sport VL 4×4 Review

The 2024 Nissan Terra Sport VL 4x4 is a new variant for the seven-seater SUV, but how does it fare against the competition?

Over the holiday season, I took with me the 2024 Nissan Terra Sport. And immediately what captured me was this car’s personality. Compared to all the previous versions of the Nissan Terra on the road, I think we can all agree that the black details make this car a real head-turner.

Unlike the chrome grill, side mirrors, wheels, and bumpers on the previous versions, this new sporty look along with Nissan’s Stealth Pearl Gray paint had me receiving compliments from almost everyone I encountered. From the security guards and parking attendants to simple onlookers I encountered before entering an establishment. Simply pulling up with this beast of a machine left an impression of amazement on the faces of pedestrians.

I am a big fan of the leatherette placement, the Bose sound system, the 8-inch infotainment system (which is, oddly enough, smaller than the 9-inch one in the standard VL 4×4), and the seat designs. I spent a decent amount of time just staring at those diamond-shaped patterns on the seats, which was the cherry on top that made me feel like I was driving a high-end SUV. However, its interior isn’t too different from the standard Terra as Isaac mentions in his video review of this SUV. But, all the changes made compared to the earlier variants give it a clean and modern feel. From the dashboard to the center console, the design was neat and convenient.

You will definitely enjoy driving the Terra Sport. Unfortunately, the wheel still does not adjust telescopically, but this can be easily compensated by adjusting the seats. All things considered, I liked the lumbar adjustment and support, especially when taking long drives, which gave me the comfort I needed.

Despite being spacious on the second-row seats, the third-row seats have much smaller space and can comfortably accommodate smaller passengers or children because of the lack of head space. It’s also worth noting that the Sport variant doesn’t even have a powered tailgate and somehow trails its competitors at its price point which come with such a feature.

On the upside, there were no hassles parking and driving this big boy due to the Nissan Intelligent Mobility System that comes along with the 360-degree birds-eye view, blind spot warning, and other features. The 2024 Nissan Terra Sport is still equipped with a seven-speed automatic that’s connected to the 2.5-liter turbo diesel engine. I had no opportunity to take this car off-roading, but I was extremely satisfied going through inclines and downhills with the Terra due to its intuitive automatic transmission which even knows when to engine brake at downhill slopes.

Sure enough, this SUV was made to be tough and powerful, yet the Terra has built a reputation around its soft suspension. The ride feels a bit less stable on the expressways, but it is a plus for comfort when going at slower speeds and on rougher roads.

As for fuel consumption, you definitely won’t need to worry about traveling long distances. My fuel consumption was at an average of 11.8km/L during our round trip to Subic. However, traveling around the city as my daily drive, the average consumption went to as low as 10.3km/L.

Overall, it’s the comfort and ride that definitely left a mark on me which I will be looking more for on SUVs in this price range. Still, driving the 2024 Nissan Terra Sport will make you feel good and tough when on the road while giving you a gratifying driving experience due to how comfortable and relaxing this SUV is to drive.
