Honda has just revealed the mid-cycle facelift that it’s preparing for the Civic. The new 2025 Honda Civic was previewed at the Civic RS Prototype at the recent 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, which as it turns out, is already the mid-cycle facelift that’s coming for the popular compact sedan.
Since this is only a preview by the brand, only two photos were released. From here, at least, we can already discuss in detail what’s aesthetically new in the 2025 Honda Civic. The LED headlights remain unchanged. What’s new is the reshaped grille, wherein there’s now a line separating the headlights from the grille, while the upper portion of the grille now has a pointer treatment compared to the previous model. Finally, the lower bumper now comes with a black trim piece that highlights the chin and the lower air intake.
Unfortunately, Honda has not yet fully revealed the rear end of the new Civic–only showing the trunk area which remains unchanged. What we can see, however, is a portion of the redesigned rear bumper, which looks like it also comes with a black trim piece. Basically, these updates make the new Civic sportier and with a sharper look.
Other details are still shrouded in mystery, along with how the interior looks like. What’s new for the United States where the facelifted Civic was first revealed is a new hybrid variant. Though new for their market, the Civic Hybrid has been for sale in the ASEAN region for a while now. This comes with a 2.0-liter Atkinson Cycle naturally-aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine and two electric motors. The hybrid powertrain has a system output of 183 hp and a whopping 315 Nm of torque, which is 5 hp and 75 Nm more than the 1.5-liter turbocharged Civic that will most likely remain as the standard powertrain option.
The 2025 Honda Civic will be revealed sometime this year, in which a Philippine launch could happen in early or mid-2025.
