As the brand’s rival to the ever-popular Toyota Aphard, the new 2024 GAC M8 was meticulously crafted to offer comfort and convenience to discerning customers who prioritize luxury, style, and practicality in their driving experience. This begins with its bold exterior design, whose tall grille was inspired by a lion’s mane. This is flanked by equally-striking LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, and a satin silver chin that complements its distinct appearance.

Down the sides, the GAC M8 comes as standard with 18-inch wheels in two designs, depending on whether you’re getting the GL Master or the GX Master. Moving towards the back, the full-width LED taillights flow vertically at each end, once again giving the M8 a distinct appearance at night.

Of course, the main reason you’re purchasing a luxury MPV is its interior appointments, and in that regard, the 2024 GAC M8 doesn’t disappoint. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster comes as standard, and so is a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. The driver also gets power-adjustable seats as standard, while those in the second row are treated to two captain’s chairs with heating and cooling functions, as well as seat massage and a panoramic sunroof. There’s also pair of powered sliding doors.

Stepping up to the range-topping GX Master, however, adds a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, a bigger 14.6-inch infotainment system, more power adjustment options to the second-row captain’s chairs, extendable footrest (fixed-length footrests for the GL Master), multi-color ambient lighting, PM2.5 sensors, starlight decoration for the panoramic sunroof, acoustic soundproof glass, and a powered tailgate.

Powering the 2024 GAC M8 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 248 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. This is sent through the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic. The GAC M8 has also been designed from the ground up to be a comfort-oriented MPV, which is why it gets multi-link independent rear suspension.

Finally, the 2024 GAC M8 is fully equipped with the latest advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), with the base GL Master getting automatic emergency braking, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist. The GX Master, on the other hand, adds blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert, a 360-degree camera system, as well as a fully-automated parking assist system.

The 2024 GAC M8 undercuts its chief rival, the Toyota Alphard, by nearly P2 million, depending on the variant. That’s because the M8 GL Master starts at P2,998,000, while the GX Master retails for P3,948,000.
