The 2024 Hyundai Elantra N is now in the Philippines, priced at P2,738,000, and putting the Civic Type R on notice.

Hyundai Motor Philippines has finally brought in its N performance sub-brand. Debuting at the Manila International Auto Show are the 2024 Hyundai Elantra N and Ioniq 5 N. The former is a rival to the likes of the Subaru WRX and other performance-oriented sports sedans and hot hatches, and it’s also priced extremely well at P2,738,000.

So, what do you get for that money? Well, under its hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 276 horsepower and 392 Nm of torque. This is all sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 0-100 kph time is just 5.3 seconds, whilst coming with features such as an electronic limited-slip differential (E-LSD) for better cornering traction.

The Elantra N also gets an electronically-controlled suspension, which offers a wide range of damping forces based on speed, driver input, road condition, and driving modes. Hyundai also applied for the first time a dual compound insulator to the front suspension. Combined with the dual compound trailing arm bush, the Elantra N’s ride, handling, and refinement characteristics all have been improved

Hyundai has also injected a few electronic features that improve the driving experience of the Elantra N even further. The first one is the N Grin Shift (NGS), which allows a temporary boost in horsepower to enable immediate and robust acceleration. Next, the N Power Shift (NPS) provides a ‘push feel’ during upshift much like the sequential gear of a race car. Lastly, the N Track Sense Shift (NTS) automatically selects the optimal gear shift and timing.

The model that is also being offered in the Philippines is the mid-cycle facelifted model that comes with aesthetic upgrades.  The front bumper is unique to the Elantra N, and it’s characterized by its wide grille and an all-black face. This is then flanked by a pair of slim LED headlights. The front chin, side skirts, and rear skirts are finished in red, while the rear bumper features an F1-style third brake light.

The exterior enhancements of the Elantra N are both aesthetically pleasing as it is functional. In front, the air vents have been designed to allow better flow in cooling the car’s braking system. On the side, wider Michelin tires and larger brake discs have been installed on the 19-inch alloy wheels to provide an even more superior grip. Then at the rear, a bridge wing-type spoiler wing has been added to improve aerodynamics and driving stability for maximum speed and faster corner exits. Finally, jutting out its rear bumper are Active Valve Exhausts, which emit a strong and satisfying sound that’s complemented by popping noises, especially when changing gears and lifting off the throttle.

The interior of the 2024 Hyundai Elantra N combines modernity with sportiness through the sport bucket seats and also the folding rear seats. In its place are fixed rear seats due to the addition of a strut brace just behind the rear seats. Other upgrades include a revised version of Hyundai’s 10.25-inch infotainment system that now features a number of sport displays, as well as a dedicated lap timer. Multimedia functions are played through an 8-speaker Bose sound system, while the main infotaiment screen comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Finally, the 2024 Hyundai Elantra N also comes with the Hyundai SmartSense suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which includes Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA), and Parking Distance Warning (PDW), among other features.

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra N is now available for pre-order at your nearest Hyundai dealer.
