Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially launched the new 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross, just two months after making its global debut in Thailand. While the mid-cycle facelift introduces a host of aesthetic and feature upgrades, the major highlight of this facelift is the fact that a hybrid electric drivetrain is now standard across all variants.
That’s right. As part of Toyota’s continued carbon neutrality efforts, TMP has decided to offer the new Corolla Cross as standard with a hybrid drivetrain. That means your only drivetrain choice is a 1.8-liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine that’s paired with an electric motor to give a combined output of 121 horsepower. This drives the front wheels via a planetary gear e-CVT. As usual with Toyota’s series-parallel hybrids, the system torque figures aren’t provided.

As with the pre-facelift Corolla Cross, three variants are still available. The range kicks off with the G, which is the variant that gets the most significant upgrades. This variant comes with LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, smart entry with push-button start, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Moving on to the V, this now gets a new design for the LED daytime running lights, which comes with sweeping LED turn signals, along with a new housing design for the LED taillights. It’s this variant that also gets 18-inch wheels, chrome exterior detailing, and a powered tailgate with a kick sensor.

Finally, the range-topping GR Sport (GR-S) is now available in Emotional Red and Attitude Black two-tone paint, though the front and rear fascia and the 18-inch wheels of this variant remain largely unchanged.
Moving inside the new 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross, the overall design also largely remains unchanged. What Toyota has focused on here is improving the amount of features you get across all three variants. Starting with the G, a new 10.1-inch infotainment system is standard on all variants, and it comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well. This perfectly complements the new wireless charging pad, which is likewise standard across all variants. Also new for 2024 in the G variant is a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) that’s mounted on the front and rear windshield.
Next, the mid-spec V gets leather upholstery, a 7-inch partly-digital instrument cluster, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, two USB-C rear fast charging ports, and the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which includes stuff like Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beam, just to name a few.
Lastly, the range-topping GR-S also gets quite an upgrade as this variant benefits from a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and a new 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor camera system.
As for pricing, the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross, with all of these upgrades and the now standard hybrid electric drivetrain, is competitively priced at P1,498,000 for the G. Splurging for the V costs P1,764,000, while the range-topping GR-S costs P1,917,000.
