What You Need To Know About The New 2025 BMW X3

The new 2025 BMW X3 has been given a design overhaul, but it uses the same CLAR platform as the outgoing model.

The next-generation 2025 BMW X3 has just been unveiled, about a year ahead of the reveal of its electric counterpart, the iX3. The new X3, while it is a new generation model, rides on a heavily upgraded version of the outgoing model’s Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform. The iX3, on the other hand, will use the electric vehicle-centric Neue Klasse platform, and the Neue Klasse X is the concept car that previews the upcoming iX3.

Though it doesn’t feature a radically new platform, the 2025 BMW X3 gets a complete design overhaul. The front end comes with a larger kidney grille, which is illuminated as standard in the case of the M Performance model called the M50, and as an option on the other variants. The said grille contains a first for a BMW crossover SUV–a pattern that combines both vertical and diagonal bars, while the LED headlights also feature a completely new LED daytime running light pattern consisting of two L-shaped elements. The side profile also has a cleaner look with flushed door handles, while the rear fascia consists of a cleaner tailgate, which has been achieved by relocating the license plate’s positioning. Of course, the M Sport and M Performance models like the M50 come with more aggressive front and rear bumpers and less body cladding.

Like the exterior, the interior of the 2025 BMW X3 is also a radical departure. The two screens are running the latest iDrive 9 infotainment system, and the Interaction Bar that debuted in the 7 Series also makes its way into the X3. As a recap, the Interaction Bar is where most of the vehicle’s secondary controls are located, and the ambient light inside the crystalized bar reacts to every setting or function you activate. Speaking of controls, the X3’s interior continues its war against tactile physical buttons, with only whatever’s left of the iDrive rotary controller being your physical input. Finally, as expected in a BMW, the interior is well-built and is finished with premium materials.

As for engines, the 2025 BMW X3’s engine range is all electrified to a certain degree. In the Philippines, the current X3 is sold in xDrive20d and the aforementioned electric iX3, but that’s coming with more radical changes at a much later date. The xDrive20d maintains the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine as before but now comes with 48-volt mild hybrid technology. Power is up by seven horses to 197 horsepower, but torque remains the same at 400 Nm. This model’s 0-100 kph time of 7.7 seconds is also unchanged from the outgoing model.

The aforementioned X3 M50, however, probably won’t be sold in the Philippines, but if you’re curious, this model uses the same 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six gasoline engine as the M40i it replaces but likewise comes with 48-volt mild hybrid assistance. Power is therefore raised to 398 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque, which is enough for a 0-100 kph time of just 4.6 seconds. All models have an eight-speed automatic as standard, as well as a rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

With the 2025 BMW X3 now revealed, it is safe to assume that the German luxury automaker will offer the new X3 in the Philippines within a year from now.
