2025 Toyota GR86 Update Comes With Improved Handling And Green Paint

The 2025 Toyota GR86 comes with handling updates as well as a new green paint, but there's a huge caveat to that paint.

Toyota has given the 2025 GR86 a minor update. It’s not yet a mid-cycle facelift, but the changes happening under its skin are still noteworthy. Oh, and the 2025 Toyota GR86 gets a lovely green paint option, but with a major caveat.

But first, let’s talk about those changes. Don’t expect any changes outside because there are none. What you get for this update are changes that improve the GR86’s handling. Specifically, the suspension and steering have been given incremental improvements that were supposedly learned from Toyota’s racetrack experience. The updated suspension and handling improve its cornering response as well as having a higher grip limit.

Toyota has also tweaked the throttle mapping for the manual-equipped models for a more direct connection between your foot and the engine. For the automatic models, the engine speed tolerance has been expanded during downshifts, which Toyota says improves the gearbox’s smoothness and responsiveness.

That’s actually about it for the changes, because the green paint you see here is a new variant called the RZ Ridge Green Limited. Apart from the obvious green paint which we’re digging so much, it also gets bronze 18-inch wheels wrapped in performance tires while the interior also gets a tan and black hue with leather and suede upholstery. There’s also Ridge Green Limited embroidered on the door panels, while a new tire pressure monitor is fitted to most variants this time around.

Unfortunately, while making green cars great again movement among car enthusiasts is gaining traction, the caveat here is that the RZ Ridge Green Limited variant is only for Japan. Only 200 units will be made, and they will be sold via a lottery system. On the upside, all the aforementioned chassis and suspension upgrades will be implemented on all 2025 Toyota GR86 models worldwide.
