The 2025 Volvo EX30 has now arrived in the Philippines as the brand's most affordable offering despite being fully electric.

Volvo Cars Philippines has officially launched the 2025 Volvo EX30, a luxury electric crossover that’s small in size but larger than life in personality and importance. That’s because the EX30 is the brand’s most affordable model globally and in the Philippines despite being electric, and it also leading the charge in the brand’s shift towards sustainable vehicle manufacturing.

Minimalist Yet Dynamic Design

From an exterior standpoint, the 2025 Volvo EX30 wears the brand’s newest design language, which incorporates minimalist and elegant design cues in typical Volvo fashion, but adopted for the electric vehicle (EV) era. The front fascia is characterized by the brand’s “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlights and LED daytime running lights, while the lack of a front grille is a hint of its EV drivetrain.

The side profile is likewise very clean and minimalist. The lack of character lines emphasizes the EX30’s compact yet dynamic proportions. The short overhangs not only make the EX30 look sporty but also result from its bespoke EV platform, wherein the wheels are pushed further out for excellent interior room. Lastly, moving towards the rear end of the 2025 Volvo EX30, you’ve got vertical LED taillights in two tiers, with a full-width trim piece connecting the lighting elements. A black contrasting roof adds to the EX30’s sporty character.

Right from the sleek exterior, Volvo already spent a lot of effort in making the EX30 sustainable even in its manufacturing and end of life. 17- percent of the steel and 25- percent of the aluminum used around the car is recycled, and the EX30’s materials have a high degree of recyclability. Volvo has been known to make cars safe in the event of a crash, but now, it’s making an effort for its cars to be as safe for the environment as possible, too.

Luxurious Yet Sustainable Interior

One of the biggest highlights of the 2025 Volvo EX30 is its interior, wherein sustainability plays a massive role in its design and character, along with cutting-edge tech. The simplistic approach is also due to the brand’s pursuit of sustainability, because the main reason for this move was to reduce the number of parts in the interior, thus reducing the raw materials extracted from the environment. The premium and upmarket dash also contains mostly big solid parts and just a central infotainment screen. This move probably won’t bode well for us who love physical controls, but the environmental argument here is pretty strong.

Most of the vehicle’s functions are controlled through the 12.3-inch infotainment system that’s running Google’s own Android Automotive operating system. This is a native Google software that makes the operating system very intuitive, user-friendly, and highly connected with Google services. Sounds are then played through a Harman Kardon surround sound system, in which the dash also contains a sound bar for immersive sound quality.

Going back to the sustainability focus, the sound bar eliminates at least six speakers needed to provide a theater-like experience. In addition, the soundbar only needs shorter wiring and fewer parts to assemble. Finally, as you can expect, that recyclability has been extended inside as well. Other features worth highlighting are the recycled textiles and denim, along with the panoramic sunroof and powered tailgate.

EV Performance With Exhilaration

The 2025 Volvo EX30 is the brand’s smallest model in 2024, but it’s also one of the fastest models it currently offers. The model on offer in the Philippines is the EX30 Ultra Extended Range, which means you get a rear-wheel drive (RWD) single motor that produces 272 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque, which is good enough for a 0-100 kph time of just 5.3 seconds. Thanks to a 64 kWh usable (69 kWh gross) lithium-ion nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery, the EX30 can travel up to 475 kilometers when fully charged.

As for charging speeds, the EX30 can support up to 11 kW in AC that’s good for a zero to 80 percent charge in 8 hours, while it can accept up to 175 kW in DC fast charging that’s good enough for a 10 to 80 percent charge in 28 minutes. Of course, the purchase of a 2025 Volvo EX30 also includes a Level 2 AC home charger.

Advanced Safety Remains At Its Core

Finally, in typical Volvo fashion, the EX30 is filled to the bring with the latest cutting-edge safety tech that includes the Park Pilost Assist semi-autonomous parking feature, the Pilot Assist semi-autonomous adaptive cruise control, a high-resolution 360-degree camera, and also the usual plethora of collision avoidance features such as automatic emergency braking, lane centering, blind spot warning, among other advanced safety features.

Priced To Compete

The 2025 Volvo EX30 is now on sale in the Philippines with a highly competitive price in the luxury segment of P2,990,000. This includes a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160,000 km battery warranty, whichever comes first. Preventative maintenance service is also available annually or every 10,000 km, ensuring the EX30 stays in excellent condition.
