Next-Generation 2025 Porsche Macan EV Now In PH

The 2025 Porsche Macan EV has finally arrived in the Philippines, packing plenty of tech, performance, and capability.

After making its global debut last year, the 2025 Porsche Macan EV has finally landed in the Philippines. Yes, for its latest generation, it has completely ditched the internal combustion engine (ICE) for a pure electric drivetrain. It is also the second model in Porsche’s range to be developed from the ground up as an EV after the Taycan.

Familiar Yet Sleek Looks

For the Philippine market, the 2025 Porsche Macan EV will be sold in two variants: the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo. Regardless of which variant you choose, the design is sleeker and more coupe-like, which has resulted in a drag coefficient of just 0.25 Cd, down from 0.35 from the ICE-powered Macan. Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) also plays a role in the Macan’s improved aero, and this includes clever stuff like the extending rear spoiler, and active cooling flaps, just to name a few. Porsche also made the Macan’s underbody flat and enclosed, while innovations like flexible fairings ensure low air resistance when rebounding.

What sets these models apart, however, are their minor exterior embellishments. The Macan 4 gets 20-inch five-spoke aerodynamic wheels, while the Macan Turbo gets even more massive 22-inch multi-spoke wheels. Furthermore, as the sportiest variant of the Macan range, the Turbo model gets a sportier front and rear bumper, bigger wheels, and a slightly lower stance.

Tech-Focused Cockpit

As for the interior, the 2024 Porsche Macan likewise doesn’t stray away from the brand’s usual aesthetic. If you’ve seen the facelifted Cayenne’s interior, simply scale it down a bit, and alter a few design bits and you’re pretty much right on the money. It’s no bad thing though since as typical of Porsche, the interior is extremely well-built with premium materials. However, for the new Macan, there’s a high proportion of sustainable materials used throughout the interior.

Tech also plays a major role in the 2024 Porsche Macan, as this comes with three displays as standard. A 12.3-inch curved digital gauge cluster works in tandem with the main 10.9-inch Porsche Communication Management infotainment system and 10.9-inch passenger-side screen. This operating system is based on Google’s Android Automotive, and it comes with a personal voice assistant that can be summoned by saying “Hey, Porsche!”.

Two Versions, Four-Wheel Grip

Two versions of the 2024 Porsche Macan will be initially sold: the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo. Both are dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) and both already deliver massive power. The Macan 4 offers 402 horsepower and 648 Nm of torque, which is enough for a 0-100 kph time of just 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 220 kph. The range-topping Macan Turbo is the pick of the range of 402 horses still isn’t enough for you. That’s because this model produces 630 horsepower and a whopping 1,128 Nm of torque, which is enough for a 3.3-second 0-100 kph time and a top speed of 260 kph.

Air suspension, which is equipped as standard on the Macan Turbo, is equipped with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damping control. PASM now also features dampers with two-valve technology, which, like in the Cayenne, the compression and rebound have their dedicated valves.

Clever Charging Tricks

The new Macan is also the first model to ride on the company’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture which the Audi Q6 e-tron also uses. Thanks to the PPE architecture, the aerodynamic improvements, and the 100 kWh (95 kWh usable) lithium-ion battery, the Macan delivers a WLTP-claimed range of up to 613 kilometers.

Even if it has such a long-range, fast charging still plays a huge role in the Macan’s breadth of capabilities. The PPE platform comes with an 800-volt architecture. However, unlike most 800-volt systems, Porsche has a clever trick up its sleeve. The DC charging capacity for the new Macan EV is up to 270 kW, but the battery can be increased from 10 to 80 percent in less than 22 minutes even at 400-volt charging stations. How? This has been made possible thanks to a high-voltage switch in the battery that enables bank charging.

What this means is that the 800-volt battery is split into two 400-volt batteries, which, according to Porsche, enables efficient charging without an additional high-voltage booster, at up to 150 kW. Finally, as for AC charging, the Macan EV can accept up to 11 kW, though this is much lower than the 22 kW AC that cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 can accept.
