550-HP BMW M3 CS Touring Debuts As The Brand’s Ultimate Wagon

The first-ever BMW M3 CS Touring is the brand's ultimate wagon, with 550 horses, a 3.5-second 0-100 kph time, and tenacious performance.

BMW is set to have a very busy year as they unveil two new models today. One of those is the 2025 BMW M3 CS Touring, an even more potent version of the M3 Touring. The M3 CS boasts an upgraded drivetrain and enhanced chassis tuning to become BMW’s ultimate wagon.

This is all thanks to its S58 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six that has been boosted from 530 horsepower to 550 horses. Its torque figure of 650 Nm remains unchanged, but the peak torque curve is now at a lower rev range-ranging from 2,750 and 5,950 rpm. In turn, this makes the M3 CS Touring accelerate from 0-100 kph in just 3.5 seconds (a tenth faster), while its 0-200 kph time happens in just 11.7 seconds. Gear shifts are executed through a ZF eight-speed automatic, which sends power to all four wheels.

The improved power is thanks to an extremely rigid crankcase with a sleeve-free, closed-deck construction, a forged lightweight crankshaft, and a cylinder head with a 3D-printed core. The likewise weight-saving cylinder bores have a wire-arc sprayed iron coating to reduce frictional losses. The cooling system and oil supply are also designed to handle the sustained heavy loads generated during hard driving on a track.

But the M3 CS is more than just sheer acceleration, because handling is undeniably part of the equation, too. The M xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) system itself has also been improved, and as with other M cars with this system, it can switch between AWD and rear-wheel drive (RWD) if you want more drifting action. Added chassis bracing helps in improving rigidity, while the M Compound Brakes have improved stopping power, though as an option, carbon ceramic brakes are also available.

Weight-saving measures have also been implemented across the M3 CS Touring’s body. Thanks to the carbon fiber hood, front splitter, front air intakes, mirror caps, and rear diffuser, 15 kilos were taken away from its weight. The kidney grille in the M3 CS Touring also mirrors that of the M4 CSL and the M3 CS sedan, wherein the openings are bigger with sharper edges and red trimmings. The adaptive LED headlights now feature yellow LED daytime running lights as a nod to its racecars.

As for the interior, it’s still as practical as any wagon could get. iDrive 8.5 dominates the dash’s design, but though an increased use of carbon fiber interior trimmings and Alcantara help in uplifting the interior vibe. As the most track-focused BMW M wagon model, the M3 CS Touring comes as standard with full M Carbon bucket seats with illuminated badges, which, despite the track-focused orientation, still feature heating and power adjustment. Finally, the Harman Kardon surround sound system has been maintained.

The new BMW M3 CS Touring will begin in global markets in March 2025. As with all BMW M CS and CSL cars, the M3 CS Touring will most likely be a limited edition model, though the German automaker didn’t reveal how many units will be made.
