The current generation of the Toyota Vios has been available in various Southeast Asian markets since late 2022. Nearly four years since its global debut, this generation of the Vios is still nowhere to be found on Philippine roads. Even with no sign of when this vehicle will arrive in our market, the 2026 Toyota Vios Hybrid has already been unveiled in Thailand.

As a reminder, the current Vios in Thailand is called the Yaris Ativ. Utilizing the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA), the current Vios is mechanically related to the current Avanza, Veloz, and Yaris Cross. As such, it also uses the 1.5-liter Toyota Hybrid System that’s in the Yaris Cross. Therefore, it has a 111 total system horsepower, and it drives the front wheels via a planetary gear-type e-CVT.

Styling-wise, there is not much difference between the Vios Hybrid and the standard model—at least in Thailand. It still carries a fastback design for this generation, wherein the front end is characterized by a wide grille that’s flanked by full LED headlights. Moving towards the rear end, we can see that the Vios has been given wide and slim taillights, likewise finished in full LEDs in higher variants. It even comes with sequential rear LED turn signals.
Where it differs from the standard Vios is with its wheel designs, as well as the availability of a GR Sport variant. This version comes with a unique front bumper, new side skirts and a rear bumper skirt, new 17-inch wheels, as well as a black roof and side mirrors.

As for their interiors, both variants feature a fully-digital gauge cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment, and ambient LED lighting. The GR Sport adds a GR Sport steering wheel, as well as unique leather upholstery with the GR Sport logo on the headrests. Finally, a six-speaker Pioneer sound system is fitted in the GR Sport.
Since the 2026 Toyota Vios now represents the top-of-the-line of the popular subcompact sedan in the markets it’s already being sold, it also comes with the full suite of Toyota Safety Sense advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Therefore, expect features like Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, Lane Tracing Assist, and Lane Departure Alert.
Unfortunately, we still have no word or even rumors on whether this generation of the Vios will even be sold in the Philippines. However, Toyota Thailand has confirmed that the 2026 Toyota Vios Hybrid will be exported to 23 overseas markets. Let’s finally hope that includes the Philippines.
