Two variants are available: Advanced and Premium. Externally, however, both models look exactly the same. The front end features a large grille with an intricate pattern, while full LED exterior lighting adds a modern touch. Gray 18-inch wheels also come as standard, along with a tasteful amount of satin silver trims to keep things sophisticated whilst remaining subtle. At the back, the window line features a satin silver window trim, which highlights the eMAX 9 DM-i’s silhouette. The tailgate in typical BYD fashion features full-width LED taillights.

Moving inside, the 2026 BYD eMAX 9 DM-i has a well-trimmed interior that’s finished in premium materials. This is also where the two available variants differ. The Advanced has a black interior, while the Premium features a white and saddle brown interior. Also offered as standard are power-adjustable front seats with ventilation for the driver, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a non-rotating 15.6-inch screen with a new operating system, second-row captain’s chairs, a sunroof, and an 8-speaker sound system. Also fitted as standard are power sliding doors and a powered tailgate.

For the range-topping Premium, this is where you get all of the nice luxury features, including massaging seats for the driver and second-row passengers, while the captain’s chairs for this variant are now power adjustable. You also get an upgraded 12-speaker sound system, along with power-folding third-row seats.

Now, as for its drivetrain, the 2026 BYD eMAX 9 DM-i uses the same PHEV system found in the Tang DM-i. This means that it uses a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder, along with an electric motor in a series-parallel arrangement. It also uses a planetary gear-type e-CVT, sending its 271 horsepower and 315 Nm system output to the front wheels. 0-100 kph is achieved in 8.5 seconds.

Where the two variants differ is in their battery pack sizes. Of course, both utilize BYD’s proprietary Blade lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, wherein the Advanced’s 0.4 kWh unit is good for a 95 km pure electric range, while the 36.6 kWh unit in the Premium extends the electric range to an astounding 170 km. Due to the large batteries, the eMAX 9 DM-i doesn’t just support 7 kW AC charging, which is good for three or five hours of charging for the Advanced and Premium, respectively, but also up to 41 and 43 kW of DC fast charging for the Advanced and Premium, respectively. Regardless, both Advanced and Premium will DC fast charge from 30 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

Lastly, the 2026 BYD eMAX 9 DM-i, particularly the range-topping Premium, comes with the DiPilot suite of advanced safety features, such as automatic emergency braking, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane centering, blind spot warning, and rear cross traffic alert, just to name a few. A 360-degree camera system, along with a plethora of airbags, is standard on both variants.

The 2026 BYD eMAX 9 DM-i is now available in the Philippines with the following prices:
