This is it, ladies and gentlemen. The 2026 Nissan Navara has just debuted, marking a generational change for the brand’s popular midsize pickup. However, if this pickup is giving you s sense of deja vu, there’s a reason why.
That’s because the new 2026 Nissan Navara is based on the new Mitsubishi Triton, only with a bit of Nissan design DNA grafted onto its face. The grille, though it features a new shape, still echoes the silhouette of Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield grille. Likewise, the LED headlights also inherited the daytime running light graphics of the previous Navara. Complementing the tough front end is a redesigned front bumper.
The side profile of the Navara likewise looks very much like the Triton, with barely any design changes made to this part of the vehicle. As for the rear end, there are C-shaped LED taillights, along with a tailgate design where the Navara nameplate is written across the back. A Pro-4X variant is also available, which adds sportier elements, including red trims surrounding the vehicle. In our opinion, though, we think Nissan has done a good job integrating their design into this pickup.
As for the interior, there’s less differentiation here between the Navara and the Triton. The dash design is nearly identical to its Mitsubishi sibling, from the steering wheel and down to the buttons. Heck, even the font style in the buttons and switches is using Mitsubishi’s official typeface.
There’s a familiar dash design with a mix of hard and soft-touch materials, plus there’s a familiar 7-inch multi-information display and an available 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Once again, opting for the Pro-4X adds red trims all over the interior.
Powering the 2026 Nissan Navara is yet another Mitsubishi-sourced engine—a 2.4-liter 4N16 turbo diesel from the Triton, and it produces 204 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic.
Two four-wheel drive (4WD) systems are available. Easy 4WD is offered on the lower variants, and it automatically switches from two-wheel drive (2WD) when on paved roads, and then 4WD when added traction is needed. This also comes with an electronic rear locking differential.
Higher variants like the Pro-4X feature the Super 4WD, which offers full-time high-range mode with an open center differential. A Torsen limited-slip differential (LSD) aids cornering traction, and this is also matched with the following drive modes: Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock.
The 2026 Nissan Navara, which is based on the Triton, is going on sale first in Australia. It is still unknown whether the new Navara is headed into the Philippine market.
