2026 Ford Ranger Facelift Says Goodbye To 2.0 Twin-Turbo In Favor Of V6 Diesel

This is the 2026 Ford Ranger, whose mid-cycle facelift bigs goodbye to the 2.0-liter twin-turbo in favor of a V6 diesel.

The 2026 Ford Ranger has made its global debut in Australia, marking the mid-cycle facelift of the popular pickup. Numerous tech and powertrain changes have been made to the four-year-old Ranger (yeah, we know, time flies so fast)–most notably the discontinuation of the 2.0-liter twin-turbo (bi-turbo) diesel.

Farewell 2.0 Twin-Turbo, Hello V6

So what’s going to replace that engine? That would be the 3.0-liter turbo V6 diesel, which used to be reserved in select variants and primarily in right-hand drive (RHD) markets only. For 2026, Ford is expanding the availability of this engine, which produces 247 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic, your only transmission choice for the facelifted Ranger (at least in Australia).

While nothing has been confirmed yet for markets outside Australia, the decision to discontinue the 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel will most likely affect the future of this engine in the ASEAN region–including the Philippines. Here’s to hoping that this also means that the V6 is coming to the Philippine market.

Sitting below the V6 is the 2.0-liter turbo (single turbo) that we’ve grown familiar with, but it comes with numerous mechanical improvements. This comes in the form of a new timing chain and an updated fuel injection system. This engine produces 168 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque.

Minor Design Refinements

Now, as for the exterior design of the 2026 Ford Ranger, blink, and you’ll probably miss the very minor changes they’ve made. You see, the current Ranger already looks distinct as it is, so the Blue Oval brand has decided not to mess around with things. The distinct C-clamp LED daytime running lights surrounding the LED headlights remain, but the chrome and gray exterior trims on various Ranger variants have been swapped out for gloss black.

More updates come in the form of new wheel designs, new colors, and new variants. Wildtrak’s new hero color is now Ignite Orange, and this variant continues to receive premium features like adaptive matrix LED headlights. The luxurious Platinum, on the other hand, gets a wonderful Acacia Green color, highlighting its more premium positioning.

As for those new variants, you now have the Ranger Wolftrak, which also features a new color called Traction Green. Ranger Wolftrak comes with an off-road-focused design, such as the 17-inch Asphalt Black wheels, long-legged sports hoop, front tow hooks, and various bright Zest accents. Ranger Sport has been discontinued in favor of the Black Edition, while the even more hardcore off-road-focused Tremor is also back for a limited time. Do note that some of these variants are limited to the Australian market and may not be offered in the Philippines or even Southeast Asia.

Moving inside the 2026 Ford Ranger, the changes mostly focus on reshuffled features. The 12-inch portrait SYNC4 infotainment is now standard across the range (all but the Wildtrak got a 10.1-inch screen), while various Ranger variants are still fitted with either an 8-inch or 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster. There’s also a B&O sound system, along with all chrome interior trims being swapped for either matte or gloss black trims across the lineup.

These changes apply to the standard Ranger models. The Ranger Raptor remains unchanged for the 2026 model year. The 2026 Ford Ranger lineup goes on sale in Australia first, with orders beginning in December 2025, while units will start arriving in Australian dealers by mid-2026.
