Alongside the new Toyota GR GT, the Lexus LFA Concept was also showcased yesterday in Japan. However, unlike the LFA we’ve dreamed about, which had a high-revving V10, this new LFA is packing batteries and electric motors.
The Lexus LFA Concept has already been previewed as the Sport Concept, but this has now morphed into the pre-production prototype you’re seeing right now. The LFA Concept uses the same all-aluminum platform as the GR GT and the GR GT3 racecar, yet Lexus chose to go the battery electric route as opposed to using an internal combustion engine (ICE).
That’s only the kind of technical information that Lexus has revealed, as they’re still keeping engineering details to themselves. For now, take a gander at its beautiful proportions that mirror the GR GT’s silhouette–albeit in a more Lexus-like take on the format. At the front, the fascia’s overall shape creates a visual cue of the brand’s Spindle Grille, and this is flanked by striking LED headlights that blend with the side air intakes.
The side profile also contains a fender vent that channels air through the doors, and then kicks up to those vents just behind the rear doors. Finally, the rear end features wide LED taillights, which are visually linked by an illuminated LEXUS script written across the rear end. Topping it all off is a triangular rear foglight at the rear diffuser.
As for the interior, this is one area where the vehicle still looks too radical for mass production. Nevertheless, you’ve got a clear separation of the driver’s area from the passenger’s section, as this has been achieved through a canopy separating the two sections. There’s also a yoke steering wheel, because why not, along with three digital screens.
When will the Lexus LFA Concept go on sale? Considering that there are still a lot of missing details about this vehicle, we think that it will go into production much later than the GR GT’s planned on-sale date in 2027.
