2026 Volvo EX60 Is An 810-KM EV For The Range Anxious

This is the new Volvo EX60, a luxury electric crossover SUV that cures range anxiety with its 810-kilometer range.

Here at Go Flat Out PH, we’ve reviewed a lot of electric vehicles (EVs). To us, range anxiety shouldn’t be a concern when you accept the fact that charging an EV is just as easy as gassing up when properly planned. Yes, even on long drives, but that’s a story for another day. For those who are still worried about range, the new 2026 Volvo EX60 is the perfect EV for you.

In hindsight, the perfect EV range for us is anywhere within the 500-600-kilometer mark, as this is already sufficient for a trip from Manila to Subic and back without charging and with range to spare. The EX60, however, pushes the boundaries for EV range as it offers a best-in-class 810 kilometers when fully charged.

“The new, all-electric EX60 changes the game in terms of range, charging and price and represents a new beginning for Volvo Cars and our customers,” says Håkan Samuelsson, CEO of Volvo Cars. “With this car, we remove all remaining obstacles to going electric. This fantastic new car is also a testament of what we are capable of at Volvo Cars, with an all-new product architecture introducing new key technologies – mega casting, cell-to-body and core computing.”

The 810-kilometer WLTP-rated range applies to the range-topping 671-horsepower P12 all-wheel drive (AWD) electric variant, while the 503-horsepower P10 AWD offers 660 kilometers of WLTP-rated range with its smaller battery. Lastly, the rear-wheel drive (RWD) 369-horsepower P6 variant delivers 620 kilometers of range. All of its range figures, even for the base P6, are already impressive and perfectly usable for the average Filipino driver.

What’s more, all variants of the 2026 Volvo EX60 come with a powerful 400 kW DC fast charging capability, which adds up to 340 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. Remember, the key to EV ownership is that you don’t need to fully charge an EV. Instead, you only charge just enough for you to reach your house and accomplish the rest of the charging there. Besides, home charging is the cheapest way of owning an EV.

As for its design, the 2026 Volvo EX60 uses the brand’s latest minimalist design language that debuted in the EX90, but scaled down to a smaller footprint. The front grille is enclosed, and it features the Volvo emblem up front. There’s also the signature Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights, whose LED projectors are now separate from the main lighting units.

As you move towards the side, you will notice the low-slung roofline, along with the elimination of the door handles. That’s because there’s a small fin jutting out of the window trim where the button to open the doors is located. Not sure how this will jive with Chinese regulators, especially since they’re currently creating a regulation that requires automakers to use mechanical door handles instead. All of these minimalist design traits result in an EV whose drag coefficient of 0.26 Cd is one of the best in the electric crossover SUV segment.

Volvo took advantage of its SPA3 platform in carving out an interior that fully takes advantage of its EV-centric layout. The entire cabin has a flat floor, providing plenty of legroom for all occupants. The spaciousness is emphasized by the wide and thin dash, whose materials are crafted out of premium and sustainable materials. Minimalism is likewise featured here, for better or worse, due to the lack of physical buttons and knobs, pretty much Tesla style.

All of the vehicle’s interactions are done through the oval steering of the new touchscreen interface. Still based on Google’s Android Automotive operating system, the new software is powered by Volvo’s HuginCore computing system, which also runs the vehicle’s other hardware features, such as the electric motor itself. The new touchscreen has Google Gemini AI built in, while occupants can enjoy the 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. Yes, 28 speakers, and this has been partly achieved through the use of two speakers in each of the vehicle’s four headrests. Apple Music is built into the software, and so is Dolby Atmos for an immersive sound experience.

Lastly, there’s also a slightly rugged EX60 Cross Country for those who prefer a more rugged electric luxury crossover SUV. The Cross Country version adds 20 mm of extra ride height, but can further be increased by an additional 20 mm via an adjustable suspension. There are also underbody skid plates, unique wheels with more off-road-ready tires. Understandably, the Cross Country version is only available in the P10 AWD and P12 AWD variants, due to the need for all-wheel traction.

The 2026 Volvo EX60 is going on sale in Europe first in late spring 2026, in which production in Sweden will also commence within that time frame. A Philippine launch could happen in late 2026 or early 2026.
