Philippine Car Sales For January 2026 Dipped By 10 Percent

Philippine vehicle sales figures for January 2026 indicates a 10 percent decline for the entire industry, with 33,696 vehicles sold.

The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) have released their vehicle sales figures for January 2026.

Within CAMPI and TMA, the automotive group’s January 2026 sales figures stood at 35,053 units. However, in the official breakdown they also sent, the written total vehicle sales are 33,696 units, which means 1,357 units are likely brands that are not part of CAMPI and TMA, such as BYD, GWM, and Geely.

Anyway, in terms of sales volume, this represents a 26 percent decline from December 2025, when 47,371 units were sold. December 2025 sales figures were noteworthy because they also happened to be the highest December sales record since 2017, making it a tough act to follow.

Versus the same period last year, January 2026 industry sales (the full 33,696 units) slipped by 10 percent. According to CAMPI president Jose Maria Atienza, relatively lower sales during the first month of the year are expected, following the year-end rush in the automotive market. On the upside, he also noted that so far, January 2026 sales level indicates that the industry is still on pace to meet its year-end goal of surpassing 500,000 sales.

Despite a decline in both the passenger and commercial vehicle main categories, CAMPI sees a bright spot in the continuous growth in the electrified segment. CAMPI and TMA members sold 2,610 electrified vehicles (xEVs) in January 2026, higher than the 1,600 sold in the same month last year. This number represents 7.75 percent of the total CAMPI-TMA vehicle sales.
