2026 Jaecoo J5 Is PH’s Most Affordable Hybrid SUV, Priced From P999K

Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines revealed at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) the country’s most affordable hybrid crossover SUV yet. The 2026 Jaecoo J5 is priced to sell, with a base price of just P999,000 for the Comfort and P1,109,000 for the range-topping Luxury.

But what exactly do you get for that amount of money? Well, for starters, both variants are similarly equipped from the outside. LED headlights with LED daytime running lights come as standard, along with 18-inch wheels with a two-tone finish. At the front, a rectangular grille with vertical slats gives off an elegant and stately vibe, while the horizontal lower air intake with vertical vents at the sides helps in adding a bit of ruggedness to its design.

Inside, the 2026 Jaecoo J5 takes on a minimalist approach. An 8-inch digital driver’s display comes as standard, while a 9-inch infotainment is fitted in the Comfort variant, or a 13.2-inch infotainment as seen in the range-topping Luxury variant. The Comfort variant also gets fabric upholstery, while the Luxury gets plush leather upholstery, along with power adjustment for the driver’s seat, a panoramic glass roof, a powered tailgate, and an eight-speaker sound system (six in the Comfort variant’s case).

As for safety, a reverse camera is fitted as standard, while the range-topping Luxury gets a 360-degree camera and 18 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), ranging from automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane centering, and adaptive cruise control, among other features.

The main highlight of the 2026 Jaecoo J5 is its hybrid system. No, not a plug-in hybrid system, but a simple hybrid system that doesn’t need to be charged. Of course, the trade-off is that there’s no meaningful pure electric range, but expect strong fuel efficiency of more than 18 km/l from its 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. It offers 221 horsepower and 295 Nm of torque, which is good for a 7.9-second 0-100 kph time.
