MG Motor Philippines has used the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) as a venue to showcase two new vehicles. The first one is the heavily facelifted MG 5 internal combustion engine (ICE) sedan, while for those in need of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with three rows, the MG G50 plug-in hybrid might be what you’re looking for.
The MG G50 has been one of the Sino-British automaker’s best-selling models, and now in 2026, it is evolving into a vehicle that fits with the times. The MG G50 plug-in hybrid uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain paired with a new Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). It has a peak combined output of 299 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. With a pure electric WLTP-rated driving range of up to 95 kilometers, complemented by a 60-liter fuel tank, the MG G50 plug-in hybrid delivers a CLTC-rated total combined range of up to 1,415 kilometers.
Not only did the MG G50 inherit a PHEV drivetrain, but it also got a new look to showcase its more futuristic driving feel. There is a new, frameless grille, which features an LED light bar on top along with separate main LED headlights. The wheels also feature a new, more futuristic design, while the rear end has also been slightly redesigned to match the rest of the more futuristic bodywork.
Receiving even more pronounced changes is the G50 plug-in hybrid’s interior. MG has given it a completely redesigned dashboard, which features dual 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The main infotainment screen runs a new operating system as well, and it also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for intuitive connectivity. Captain’s chairs are also fitted in the second row, plus a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning, just to name a few.
The MG G50 plug-in hybrid will be available in Pearl White, Andes Gray, and Pearl Black, at a price tag of P1,398,888. Yes, reservations are now open, and to those reserving as early as today, MG Motor Philippines is offering exclusive freebies. Just pay a minimum reservation fee of P1,000, and you’ll receive a free 7 kW AC wall charger upon vehicle release. In addition, an instant P10,000 discount will apply, with a further P10,000 discount for every month of waiting should unit availability be delayed.
