BYD Sealion 7 And Atto 2 Electric SUVs Coming To PH This Year

The new, fully electric BYD Sealion 7 and Atto 2 have been previewed ahead of their launches in the Philippines this year.

BYD Cars Philippines has used the 2026 Manila International Auto Show as a venue to preview two new upcoming electric vehicles (EVs). These are the BYD Sealion 7 and Atto 2, which represent the brand’s increased EV push in two different electric SUV segments.

BYD Atto 2

First and foremost, the BYD Atto 2 is expected to be a volume seller, as it will be an aggressively priced subcompact electric SUV. Making its global debut in March 2024, the Atto 2 sits below the Atto 3 and measures 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,675 mm high. Size-wise, it’s a direct competitor to the Toyota Yaris Cross, Honda HR-V, and Kia Seltos, albeit with a fully electric drivetrain.

Styling-wise, the Atto 2 adopts the Dragon Face motif instead of the usual ocean-inspired elements of its siblings. This is seen with its horizontal grille that’s flanked by slim LED headlights, while visual interest has been added to the car’s body cladding with those squared-off elements. As for the interior, there’s a fully-digital gauge cluster and a large touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Philippine specs have not been revealed yet, since this is still a preview, but we could see a 360-degree camera system, though the lack of a windshield-mounted forward sensor for this vehicle is a sign that this doesn’t come with any advanced driver-assistance systems.

Globally, the BYD Atto 2 has a front-wheel drive (FWD) layout that produces either 94 horsepower or 174 horsepower. The former is good for a leisurely 12-second 0-100 kph time, while the latter accelerates to 100 kph in 7.9 seconds. A 32 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) Blade battery for the 94-horsepower version is good for 301 kilometers, while the 45.12 kWh version is good for 401 kilometers, both rated with the Chinese CLTC test cycle.

On the other hand, the meatier 174-horsepower version comes with either a 51.1 kWh Blade battery that’s good for up to 344 kilometers of WLTP-rated range, or a larger 64 kWh LFP battery, which increases this to 420 kilometers. It is still unknown which of the two power output versions will be arriving in the Philippines.

BYD Sealion 7

At the other end of the spectrum is the BYD Sealion 7, which has no relation to the Sealion 6 DM-i, as this is a pure electric SUV. The Sealion 7 is mechanically related to the Seal EV, whose bespoke EV platforms allow for a front trunk and a sleek design.

The Sealion 7 on display is the Performance version, as denoted by its 4.2S badge. In typical BYD fashion, its performance vehicles showcase their quick 0-100 kph times, which in this case, only takes 4.2 seconds due to its dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) system producing a whopping 523 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque.

Sporty 20-inch alloy wheels match the sleekness of the Ocean Aesthetics design of the Sealion 7, whose front fascia results in an X-shaped motif. Slim LED headlights are positioned slightly higher than the car’s hood line, giving the front end a purposeful look. The curvaceous roof neatly tapers to the well-proportioned rear end, in which full-width LED taillights dominate the rear fascia. The interior, meanwhile, has one of BYD’s most premium designs yet, featuring generous plush materials, as well as the latest cutting-edge tech. These include two digital screens and a full glass roof, but since this is still a preview and not a launch, final specs have not yet been revealed.

Interested in any of these two models? The BYD Atto 2 is arriving in the second half of 2026, while reservations for the Sealion 7 are already open, as the vehicle is set to be launched in May 2026.
