Toyota Motor Philippines is revamping the Corolla Altis lineup by introducing more affordable hybrid variants. Once reserved for the top-of-the-line GR Sport (GR-S), the two additional variants of the Corolla Altis Hybrid lower its base price from P1,746,000 to P1,489,000 for the new 1.8 E HEV variant.

So, what do you get (or not get) in the 1.8 E HEV? Well, this variant gets halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights, full LED taillights, 16-inch silver wheels, plus smart entry with push-button start. Inside, you get leather upholstery, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a four-speaker sound system. As mentioned, this variant retails for P1,489,000, while opting for White Pearl comes with a P15,000 upcharge.

Now, for the 1.8 G HEV, this gets 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, full LED exterior lighting, LED foglights, a subtle rear spoiler, and smoked LED taillights, similar to what’s in the GR-S. Worth mentioning is that the front fascia design of these variants features the standard look as opposed to the sportier front end of the GR-S. More premium features are seen inside the Corolla Altis Hybrid G HEV, as this now gets power adjustment for the driver’s seat and a six-speaker sound system. This variant retails for P1,602,000, and opting for White Pearl unsurprisingly comes with a P15,000 upcharge.

Amazingly, both variants get the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, which includes Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Automatic High Beam. This comes on top of the standard rear parking sensors, reversing camera, and the standard suite of airbags. Reserved for the G HEV, however, is the Blind Spot Monitor.
The updated and more affordable Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid variants are now on sale across all of the brand’s dealerships nationwide. With these new variants, do you think that Toyota can once again bring interest into the compact hybrid sedan segment?
