GWM Philippines To Launch Haval H7 On June 15 As Hybrid And PHEV

Interested in a hybrid or plug-in hybrid SUV? The GWM Haval H7 is set to arrive this June 15 already, and here's what we know so far.

After being previewed at the recent Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), the 2027 GWM Haval H7 has been confirmed to arrive in the Philippines on June 15. Also confirmed are some of its specs and even prices, which, to be fair, were revealed by an eager dealer sales agent during the aforementioned auto show. Do note, however, that the prices we reported during the show could be changed once it’s launched on June 15.

If you’re in the market for an affordable hybrid or plug-in hybrid SUV, you may want to wait for the GWM Havel H7, because it will have a starting price of just P1,300,000. This, however, is for the HEV 2WD, which combines a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder and an electric motor. It sends power to the front wheels via a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), whose system output is 244 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque.

For those who prefer a plug-in hybrid, the PHEV 2WD uses the same 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder and single electric motor combination, but it now boosts the output to 322 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. Thanks to a 19.09 kWh battery, the PHEV 2WD is good for a 105-kilometer pure electric range. The PHEV 2WD will retail for P1,550,000.

Lastly, there will also be a PHEV AWD variant, which will likely feature the Hi4 powertrain that we love. Hi4 is GWM’s pure AWD plug-in hybrid drivetrain that uses two electric motors and an internal combustion engine (ICE) in various layouts. We did an engineering deep dive on Hi4 last year, and if you want to see how Hi4 stands out among a string of plug-in hybrid systems from other Chinese brands, we think it’s worth a read here.

Due to the beefy setup, the PHEV AWD produces a whopping 364 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque, but since its battery size is still the same as the PHEV 2WD at 19.09 kWh, its pure electric range drops to a still impressive 91 kilometers. This variant will serve as the nameplate’s flagship, and will retail for P1,700,000. Still an impressive price tag, considering its competitors have less power and don’t offer AWD.

GWM dealers are already accepting reservations for the Haval H7 HEV and PHEV, so if you’re interested in any of these rugged electrified SUVs that offer plenty of value, you no longer have to wait any longer as it’s already destined to arrive next week.
