After more than a decade of keeping the second-generation model in production, the 2027 Audi Q7 has finally been revealed in its third-generation form. The new Q7 adopts the brand’s current design language, and this is coupled with plenty of clever tech features to make the brand’s flagship (for now) SUV feel special.
And as you’d expect in an Audi, it all begins with lighting. The new 2027 Audi Q7’s split LED headlights with configurable LED daytime running lights may look similar to what you get in models like the Q6 e-tron, but the ones in the Q7 have a clever trick. That’s because when you use the turn signals, arrows are projected onto the ground as well. The lights can also project other warnings, too, such as for the driver-assistance features.
Surrounding those clever lights is a large Singleframe grille with LED accent lighting. The more upright design of the front fascia matches well with the rest of the body. The clean side profile is complemented by a choice of wheel designs ranging from 20 to 23 inches. The D-pillar is also more upright than before, as the Q7 places more emphasis on third-row space.
At the back, the Q7 features OLED taillights that can change their lighting pattern to warn other drivers if they’re approaching the Q7 too fast, among other features. Oh, and like the headlights, the taillights can also project the turn signals onto the ground.
More into the topic of lighting, because the Q7 now has other accent lights for the entry and exit system of the vehicle, as well as where you should put your foot when you want to use the foot sensor for the hands-free powered tailgate.
Inside the 2027 Audi Q7, the tech features are pretty much what you’d expect from any of the brand’s current models. The latest MMI operating system is based on Android Automotive, and it features a minimalist graphical user interface. A duo of OLED panels is housed in a single glass bezel, while a passenger’s side display is also fitted as standard. The doors can also open and close on their own, just like in a BMW 7 Series. For the first time in the Q7, you now have a choice between a bench or captain’s chairs for the second row.
Elsewhere, the interior of the Q7 addresses some of the more recent complaints with the brand’s interiors. There’s more color surrounding the occupants, while the use of gloss black and hard plastic panels has been nearly eliminated. The Q7 being used in the press materials has a generous serving of wood trims that are refreshing to see. Lastly, the Q3’s reinvented electronic steering wheel stalks make their way into the Q7 as well.
Depending on the market, the 2027 Audi Q7 will be offered in three initial engine choices. There’s a 3.0-liter 48-volt mild hybrid V6 turbo diesel engine with 299 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. For the North American market, they get a 2.9-liter turbo V6 that produces 429 horsepower. The range-topping SQ7 gets a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 591 horsepower, which is a 91-horsepower improvement over the previous model. All engine choices come with quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) and an eight-speed automatic as standard.
The 2027 Audi Q7 is headed to Europe and North America this year, while a Philippine launch could happen sometime in 2027.
