With Mitsubishi Motors pouring its development resources into its upcoming Pajero, it seems that the Mirage subcompact sedan and hatchback have been pushed to the sidelines. Rather than giving it an all-new generation, the Mirage that originally debuted at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show is still being kept alive through a series of facelifts. This happens to be its third already, as the 2027 Mitsubishi Mirage continues to live on.
Of course, the main highlight here is the newly-redesigned front end. The new Mirage gets a new grille that, well, let’s just say, adds a bit of aggression to its front end. The LED headlights, which are now fitted as standard in the Philippines, remain the same. The overall Dynamic Shield grille has been tweaked, featuring a thicker bezel finished in black.
The rest of the bodywork remains unchanged, and that goes for the interior as well. There’s a familiar analog gauge cluster, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and smart entry with push-button start, just to name a few.
In Thailand, where the third facelift for the Mirage debuted, this vehicle comes with Forward Collision Mitigation Low Speed Range System, a Radar Sensing Misacceleration Mitigation system, among other advanced driver-assistance systems.
Even the engine is unchanged. It’s still a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 78 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels via a CVT.
The 2027 Mitsubishi Mirage goes on sale in Thailand first, while a Philippine launch could possibly happen sometime in 2027, especially since the Mirage is locally assembled in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
