When the standard Hyundai Stargazer first hit the local market, it turned heads for its futuristic, love-it-or-hate-it spaceship-like design. But for those wanting a little more attitude from their family MPV, Hyundai rolled out the Stargazer X–a more rugged, crossover-inspired take on their popular 7-seater. Priced at ₱1,378,000, this facelifted 2026 Hyundai Stargazer X adds serious character to a segment that is normally pretty dry.
An MPV With X Factor
The first thing you notice about the 2026 Hyundai Stargazer X is how much of an eye-catcher it is on the road. If you’ve driven cars with adaptive systems before, you probably know the exact frustration I usually face: so many of them tend to vastly overestimate the space ahead. Even on their closest setting, they leave such an exaggerated gap that you become a prime target to constantly get cut off by more aggressive drivers, forcing you to awkwardly slam on the brakes. Inside, the Stargazer X layout feels clean and highly modern, dominated by a neatly integrated dual-screen digital dashboard panel. The leatherette seat designs are comfortable up front, but it’s when you start using it as a multi-passenger hauler that reality sets in.
While the second row is immensely spacious, the third row can get a bit tricky for larger, adult passengers. Because the roofline tapers toward the rear and the floor pan sits relatively high, knee room and headroom become a premium back there. It’s a space best reserved for shorter trips or kids.
Where it truly wins back practical points, though, is the sheer cargo convenience. Even without a power-assisted tailgate at this price point, the trunk mechanism is light, and the way the seats handle layout changes is a breeze. The third row folds completely down flat into the floor, creating a massive, smooth cargo bed that makes throwing in groceries, gear, or large boxes incredibly seamless.
Comfortable And Secure On The Road
Under the hood, the Stargazer X relies on a traditional 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine paired with Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), which produces 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. If you are like me and appreciate how many modern manufacturers have been making the smart move to downsize engines and add a turbocharger for instant, low-end punch, you might find yourself a little disappointed here. The lack of forced induction means there is no sudden surge of turbo power to pull you past traffic.
In the realm of MPVs, though, the Stargazer X is one of the more responsive vehicles out there. The IVT adds simulated gears to the CVT, which reduces the rubberband throttle feel usually associated with such transmissions.
On the plus side, taking that more patient approach pays off immensely at the pump, as the naturally aspirated motor is incredibly efficient once you let it cruise into its rhythm. It can easily achieve 11.2 km/l in mixed driving conditions, which is one of the most efficient in its segment. Handling is also secure. Though not a sporty car by any means, the Stargazer X corners tidily without any bad surprises. It also rides extremely well with great body control, along with one of the best noise, vibration, and harshness suppression in the segment.

Overall, the 2026 Hyundai Stargazer X does exactly what it sets out to do: it takes a highly practical family box and wraps it in a future-proof design that commands real road presence. It forces you to accept a couple of quirks, as the steep learning curve of its front dimensions and a powertrain that favors efficiency over aggressive overtakes. But if you can look past the non-turbo hesitation, its incredible safety tech package and head-turning aesthetics make it a highly unique, gratifying choice in a crowded segment.
