The new BMW X3 20 xDrive, which retails for P3,998,000, serves as the new entry-level version of the brand’s popular compact crossover SUV. Immediately noticeable is the kidney grille with the Iconic Glow accent LED lighting, while the 19-inch two-tone wheels add sophistication to its overall design. Other exterior features include a hands-free powered tailgate, adaptive LED headlights, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Meanwhile, the interior features Veganza leather upholstery, power adjustment for the front seats, and ambient LED lighting. Surprisingly, even premium features like the Harman Kardon sound system have been retained here, which accompanies the iDrive 9 infotainment system with BMW ConnectedDrive telematics. The windshield-projected head-up display is also retained for this variant. Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Driving Assistant Plus, and Parking Assistant Plus with 360-degree camera functionality are also fitted to the X3 20 xDrive.

Powering the new BMW X3 20 xDrive is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 48-volt (mild) hybrid technology, which offers a system output of 208 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque. This is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic that drives all four wheels. Yes, the 48-volt system is recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE) to give the X3 a green plate.

For those who want a more affordable version of the X5, the new X5 xDrive40i ditches the plug-in hybrid system to bring its price down to P5,298,000. This time around, the 3.0-liter B58 turbo straight-six with 48-v0lt mild hybrid tech produces 381 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque, likewise powering all four wheels through a ZF eight-speed automatic. It also gets the green plate nod, just like the X3 20 xDrive.

On the outside, not much differs from the X5 xDrive50e plug-in hybrid. The same xLine exterior from the plug-in hybrid version also applies to this version, but this model gets bigger 20-inch wheels. The Iconic Glow grille and adaptive LED headlights are also equipped in this variant, along with the split-opening powered tailgate.

Inside, the BMW X5 xDrive40i also gets similar equipment to the xLine plug-in hybrid, such as the Fineline Stripe wood trim, the Sensafin upholstery, power adjustment for the front seats, and the Harman Kardon sound system to complement the iDrive 8.5. The Driving Assistant suite of advanced safety features and Parking Assistant are also equipped in this variant as well.
