Under The Spotlight: Mitsubishi Adds A Boot To The Mirage

Mitsubishi has launched last October, the highly anticipated sedan version of the Mitsubishi Mirage. The Mitsubishi Mirage G4, otherwise known as the Attrage (Attractive + Mirage) in Thailand.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is designed to satisfy the public’s demand for a Mirage with a boot. Compared to the other small cars out there that was developed as a hatchback first before it’s sedan sibling, the Mitsubishi Mirage has to be one of the best looking one yet. The transition from hatchback to sedan is seamless, though a little bit less daring than I’d like. The proportions are just right, and the rear boot does not look too stubby. Compared to its hatchback sibling, the Mirage G4 looks more mature. More elegant, if that’s the other way to put it, which is trait further strengthened by the chrome accents in the front, and the absence of the yellow and green in the range of available colors.

The Mirage G4 is powered by the same 1.2 liter 3-cylinder MIVEC engine from its hatchback sibling, delivering 77 horsepower @ 6000 rpm, and 100 Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm, while fuel economy figures are claimed to reach 21 km/l on the highway. Both the base GLX and the top trim GLS can be optioned with either a 5-Speed manual, or a CVT.

Like its hatchback sibling, the Mirage G4’s equipment levels are generous for the class. Both cars come with USB ports, driver and passenger dual stage airbags. Step up to the GLS, and you get to enjoy features like a smart key access system with push button start, a 6.5 inch touchscreen radio with a built-in navigation system with SD card slots, and 15 inch alloys.

GLX MT: 578,000

GLX CVT: 628,000

GLS MT: 668,000

GLS CVT: 718,000
