Ford Group Philippines gave the public a glimpse of their future plans, and one of them is bringing the all-new Escape in the Philippines (also known as the Kuga in Europe).
The Ford Escape that we were accustomed to was on sale since the early 2000s, only having a facelift to keep it updated. Production only stopped when Ford’s Sta. Rosa plant drew to a close, because automobile production conditions in Thailand are more favorable than here in the Philippines. Without a true compact SUV in their line up, then its only a matter of time that Ford really needs to launch a true compact SUV to rival the likes of the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and the Subaru Forester, since they are missing out an opportunity to capture what is one of the most highly contested segments in the automotive industry.
According to Ford, the new Escape will be shipped from the USA, and will be sold in the 4th quarter of 2014. No pricing has been announced yet.
