The Toyota Hiace Super Grandia is finally here in the Philippines, and we’re the first country in the ASEAN region to get the flagship Hiace variant. It’s really more than just a dressed-up Hiace, as it features numerous bespoke design elements and features.
“The Hiace Super Grandia is a preferred van of companies in various industries and is quite popular as a family vehicle. It has indeed become a symbol of comfort, convenience, and durability,” says TMP President Satoru Suzuki. “We are excited to bring a higher level of luxury and a delightful ride experience that Filipinos truly deserve with the all-new Hiace Super Grandia. We expect this model to further elevate the Hiace which currently has a 54.6% share in its segment, year-to-date as of July.”

For starters, the exterior features numerous premium design touches such as a tall chrome grille, LED headlights and foglights, LED taillights, two-tone alloy wheels, dual sliding doors, as well as numerous splashes of chrome trims on the exterior. Exclusive to the Super Grandia Elite are the dual automatic sliding doors.
Apart from bespoke exterior looks, the Hiace Super Grandia swaps out its leaf spring suspension for a more sophisticated independent four-link coil spring suspension.

The interior also features a more luxurious ambiance compared to the standard Hiace, featuring premium finishes such as piano black for all variants except for the Super Grandia Elite, which uses faux wood trims. There are also silver accents and LED ambient lights to further spice up the interior ambiance. Passive entry with push-button start, 7-inch touch screen infotainment system and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are all equipped as standard, while the Super Grandia Elite has 6-way electronically adjustable driver’s seat, and a steering wheel with both leather and wood.

There are three variants to choose from, all as a 10-seater configuration. The range kicks off with the Super Grandia Fabric, which features four captains chairs and as mentioned, a fabric interior. Next is the Super Grandia Leather, which has the same seating arrangement as the entry-level Super Grandia Fabric, albeit upholstered in leather. The top of the range is the Super Grandia Elite, which is also a 10-seater, but its second rows use the same electronically-adjustable captain’s chairs with ottoman’s from the Alphard luxury MPV.
Under the hood of the Hiace Super Grandia is the same 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV inline-4 turbocharged diesel engine found in the Hiace GL Grandia, Fortuner and Hilux. With 2.8-liters of displacement, the engine produces 163 hp and 420 Nm of torque, sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Safety is one of Toyota Motor Philippines’ highlights for the Hiace Super Grandia. Equipped as standard are 9 airbags, electronic stability control, while the Super Grandia Elite gets a reverse camera and making its Philippine debut is Toyota Safety Sense, the brand’s suite of advanced driver safety features. Toyota Safety Sense consists of the usual automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, among other features.
