Motor Image, the official distributor of Subaru in the Asia Pacific region has recently unveiled the refreshed Subaru Impreza at the 2020 Singapore Motor Show. It will make its Philippine debut at the 2020 Manila International Auto Show this coming April.
First launched in 2017 as an all-new model, the refreshed 2020 Subaru Impreza’s very minor changes include a new, more handsome face courtesy of a sportier front bumper with more horizontal elements. It borrows quite a few design cues from the all-new Legacy and Outback, most noticeably its frameless grille. The side profile and rear fascia carry over largely unchanged, save for a new set of alloy wheels.
The interior also gets slight upgrades through improved materials and a set of new bright silver trims that replace the faux carbon fiber treatment. Of note are the STI accessories equipped around this display vehicle, which can be individually selected depending on the customer’s preferences.
Under the hood of the Impreza is the same direct-injected FB20 horizontally-opposed 4-cylinder boxer engine as before, producing 154 hp and 196 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a CVT. Drivers can also expect an improved driving experience thanks to the availability of Subaru’s SI-Drive drive mode selector and a retuned suspension.
For 2020, the Subaru Impreza gets a couple of new features, some of which include Rear Seat Reminder–a feature that alerts the driver to check the rear seats before exiting the vehicle, as well as reverse-linked side mirror, which tilts the side mirror when in reverse gear for easier parking. Believe it or not, the 2020 Subaru Impreza is also one of the first Subaru vehicles to be fitted with speed-sensing door locks, a feature that nowadays is even standard on affordable small cars.
As expected, Subaru EyeSight is also equipped in the new Impreza, and once it arrives in the Philippines, it will also be the first time that the Impreza will receive Subaru’s advanced driver-assist features. EyeSight includes full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, among others.
The 2020 Subaru Impreza is expected to make its Philippine debut at the 2020 Manila International Auto Show in April.
