Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has brought in a more aggressive and sporty version of the Strada pick-up called the Strada Athlete. Designed to compete with the likes of the Ford Ranger Wildtrak and Toyota Hilux Conquest, the new Strada Athlete packs aggressive looks along with added convenience and safety features that many customers will appreciate.
Three colors on offer for the Strada Athlete: White Diamond, Jet Black Mica, and the 4WD-exclusive Sunflare Orange. As standard, all variants get those aggressive side graphics, black alloy wheels, blacked-out exterior trim pieces, and a rear sports bar. Only the 4WD variant gets full LED headlights with automatic high beams along with full LED taillights.
The interior design remains largely the same, though Mitsubishi’s designers have added a few orange details to enhance the interior ambiance. Both the 2WD and 4WD get passive entry with push-button start, color multi-information display between the two gauges, touch screen infotainment system, rear air circulator, along with front and rear USB charging ports. Exclusive to the 4WD variant are the striking two-tone orange and black leather interior, dual-zone climate control, and 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
In terms of safety, all variants come with electronic stability control (marketed as Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control System), ABS with EBD, and hill start assist. The 4WD variant, meanwhile, is pretty advanced for its class as it is equipped with blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, automatic emergency braking, front and rear ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system, hill descent control, and seven airbags.
The new Mitsubishi Strada Athlete is now available across all of Mitsubishi’s dealers nationwide with a price of P1,443,000 for the 2WD variant and P1,1760,000 for the 4WD variant. However, Mitsubishi dealers across Luzon and NCR remain closed due to the enhanced community quarantine that’s currently enforced.
