The iconic Ford F-150 full-size pick-up finally returns to the Philippine market after a long hiatus. America’s best-selling truck for 43 consecutive years will be offered in two fully-loaded and well-priced variants: Lariat 4×2 SuperCrew and Platinum 4×4 SuperCrew.
“The F-150 is definitely a strong addition to our pickup truck portfolio as we continue to lead the segment with the widest range of trucks, now totaling fifteen (15) variants. The F-150 is packed with segment-defining features and capabilities that have made it the truck of choice across America and the world,” said PK Umashankar, managing director, Ford Philippines. “We are excited to bring back this legendary Ford truck to Filipino customers who seek next-level power and refinement in their pickup.”
Now on its 13th generation, the Ford F-150’s aluminum-intensive construction is a first for a mass-produced American vehicle. Dominating the F-150’s face is a horizontal grille the highlights the pick-up truck’s width. This is then flanked by quad-LED headlights with automatic high beams. All variants get body-colored front and rear bumpers, 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 275/55 R20 all-terrain tires, and LED taillights.
While both variants look largely similar from the outside, the top-trim Platinum gets the benefit of power-retractable step boards and a unique tailgate step with tailgate lift assist.
Inside, the Ford F-150 features a very wide interior with a very large center console. There are numerous USB ports and 110V power outlets. An 8-inch multi-information display sits in between two analog gauges, while the center console is highlighted by the 8-inch SYNC3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers will find it easy to set their ideal driving position with the F-150’s standard power-adjustable steering column, pedals, and seats. Speaking of the seats, it comes with both heating and cooling on all variants. Sounds are played through a powerful 10-speaker B&O by Bang & Olufsen sound system, which is equipped as standard on both variants. Opting for the Platinum trim further heightens the luxury experience with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, plush carpeting, metal door sills, along with genuine wood and aluminum interior trims.
The Ford F-150 is also the first Ford vehicle in the Philippines to be equipped as standard with Ford Co-Pilot360. Co-Pilot360 is a full-suite of semi-autonomous driver tech that includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and an intelligent blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert system that takes into account any trailers being towed. This comes on top of stability control, a plethora of airbags, a 360-degree camera system, all-around parking sensors, Ford’s Active Park Assist self-parking feature, and a seatbelt-mounted airbag unique to the Platinum variant.
Ford Philippines has fitted the F-150 with the top-tier engine that’s being offered in the American market. It’s the flagship 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine that produces 380 hp and 637 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels for the Lariat and all four wheels for the Platinum through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
