MG is expanding its SUV lineup even further with the launch of the MG Linghang. The new SUV, which seems to be a heavily redesigned version of the MG HS, utilizes the Sino-British automaker’s latest design language.
All the information about MG’s latest SUV, including photos, are courtesy of CarNewsChina.com. From these photos, the MG Linghang seems to be a heavily revised version of the MG HS compact SUV. Whether this will be a replacement or a separate model from the MG HS is still unknown at this point.
Nevertheless, the compact SUV utilizes the Sino-British automaker’s latest design language. Up front, the MG Linghang features a large grille with an intricate mesh pattern similar to what the new MG 5 uses. The large grille is then flanked by a pair of sleek LED headlights. Based on the badge on the grille, this is probably the top-of-the-line Trophy variant, which is also the same variant name being used to call the top-of-the-line MG 6. Moving towards the rear, and you’ll see a pair of redesigned “claw-like” LED taillights.
As for the interior, the overall design remains largely the same compared to the MG HS. It features a sporty design with soft-touch surfaces wrapping the dashboard. There’s also a large touch screen infotainment system, which most likely features a 10.1-inch screen just like in the MG HS on which this SUV is based. Other interior details include a new digital gauge cluster and a new electronic gear shifter that replaces the mechanical shifter from the MG HS.
The MG Linghang will most likely feature MG Pilot, which is the brand’s suite of driver-assist systems ranging from adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, just to name a few.
Powertrain information is also scarce at this point. Though some sources say that the MG Linghang will feature a 1.5-liter ans 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engines.
The full reveal of the MG Linghang is scheduled to happen this October.
