Limited-Run Mini John Cooper Works GP Now In PH

However, all 6 units of the limited-run Mini John Cooper Works GP have already been sold even before these units arrived in the country.

The limited-edition Mini John Cooper Works GP has officially landed in the Philippines. The most powerful and potent Mini to date will only have a production cap of 3,000 units, six of which were allocated to the Philippine market. However, if you’re planning to buy one, all six units have already been spoken for.

Assembled at the Mini plant in Oxford, the Mini John Cooper Works GP features a 306-hp 2.0-liter inline-4 gasoline engine that’s also found in the high-performance BMW M135i. In case you’re still unaware, Mini is part of the BMW Group, so it’s not surprising that various Minis share a few parts from the German luxury automaker. The potent engine lets the Mini John Cooper Works GP sprint from zero to 100 kph in just 5.2 seconds all the way to a top speed of 265 kph. Power is then sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Apart from receiving a more powerful engine, this hot hatch also gets a much wider track. As a result, the car features wider carbon fiber front and rear wheel arches in order to accommodate the wider stance. The chassis has also been strengthened in order to improve its handling and rigidity. Further improving handling are a few weight reduction measures implemented into this hot hatch. This includes the removal of the rear seats along with reducing some of the sound insulation. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to add more carbon fiber parts as part of this weight reduction process.

Some of the interior amenities of the John Cooper Works GP include a digital instrument cluster, a Mini Connected infotainment system, 3D-printed paddle shifters, John Cooper Works sport seats, just to name a few.

Curious as to how much this hot hatch costs? It retails for P4,800,000, but then again, all six units destined for the Philippine market have been spoken for.
