Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) silently launches the facelifted 2021 Toyota Yaris. As a recap, the Yaris we get is completely unrelated to the TNGA-based all-new Yaris launched in Japan and Europe and even more so from the GR Yaris hot hatch. Just like its Vios sibling, this is the second major facelift that the ASEAN Yaris has received over its lifetime.
The new 2021 Toyota Yaris gets the same basic front fascia as the recently facelifted Toyota Vios, though the grille features a mesh pattern instead of the gloss black horizontal bars found in its sedan sibling. There are also new headlights, in which the S variant gets full LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, LED taillights and rear foglights. LED foglights are also standard on both the S and E variants, along with 15-inch alloy wheels.
As for its interior, the overall design remains largely unchanged, though new for the 2021 Yaris is a 6.75-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Toyota has also added synthetic leather seats for the S variant, while the E variant uses fabric seats. Optitron gauges and smart entry with push-button start are only exclusive to the S variant.
In terms of safety, all variants of the new Yaris get electronic stability control, hill start assist and seven airbags.
Powertrain options for the new Yaris remain unchanged. The 1.3-liter gasoline engine still produces 98 hp and 123 Nm while the 1.5-liter produces 106 hp and 140 Nm of torque. Only a CVT is available on both powertrain choices.
“The Yaris appeals to many married professionals in their mid to late 30s looking for a modern fun-to-drive vehicle that offers the great cargo space a hatchback offers,” Marcial said, describing the Yaris customer. “The Yaris nameplate has amassed quite a loyal fan base for being synonymous with fun driving and flashy looks, and this year we’ve elevated it with a new premium eye-catching design to suit our customers’ evolving style. All without, of course, compromising on the power, convenience, and safety we’ve all come to expect from every Toyota,” she added.
The 2021 Toyota Yaris is now on sale across all Toyota dealers and it comes with these new fun colors: Cyan Metallic, Citrus Mica Metallic, Red Mica Metallic, Super White II. The 1.3 E CVT starts at P973,000 while the 1.5 S CVT starts at P1,114,000.
