Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH), has just unveiled the facelifted 2021 Suzuki Dzire. Suzuki’s most affordable sedan in the Philippines gets a new exterior design along with a number of new safety and convenience features.
“We are very much thankful for the great support that the market has shown to us, especially for the past year. Despite the challenges the we are faced with, this new model serves as our light and hope as we continue to work harder and strive for greatness in the months and years to come, ” said SPH Vice President and General Manager for Automobile Keiichi Suzuki.
He further added, “We in Suzuki Philippines are happy to announce that the New Dzire offers our latest innovative technology and design that offers an authentic sedan experience. We are optimistic that with this new model, we will be able to continue in championing the Suzuki Way of Life, and remain true to our dedication to deliver quality products and services.”
Upfront, the 2021 Suzuki Dzire gets a new, enlarged grille and new foglight housings that give this small sedan a sportier vibe. Everything else is carried over from the previous Dzire, but that’s no bad thing since the current generation model looks better proportioned than the previous model. These new changes are only on the GL and GL+, which means that the looks of the base GA model are still unchanged.
Inside, the 2021 Suzuki Dzire still features mostly the same design as the previous model. Just like the pre-facelift models, the GL and GL+ variants have a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system along with rear aircon vents and rear 12V socket. Practicality is also a strong point for the Dzire because of its generous 378-liter trunk space.
Under the hood of the 2021 Suzuki Dzire is still the same 1.2-liter inline-4 gasoline engine as before, which means it still produces 82 hp and 113 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual transimssion (AMT), which is marketed by Suzuki as Auto Gear Shift (AGS). It’s different from a typical automatic transmission wherein it does not have a torque converter. Instead, an AMT uses a robotized clutch that engages and disengages automatically.
As for safety, the new Dzire now gets electronic stability control as standard, a move we commend Suzuki for implementing. This comes on top of hill start assist (GL+), rear parking sensors and dual SRS airbags.
The 2021 Suzuki Dzire is now on sale across all Suzuki dealers. The GL MT variant costs P648,000, while the GL+ AGS variant comes in at P708,000. The base GA is still on sale for P549,900.
